I love these pens; they're small, fit in pockets, they have an ink supply that lasts forever, and most importantly write like a dream, smooth and don't seem to ever skip...
Somehow I ordered 2 boxes of 12 each when I thought I'd ordered one box... I was going to return one box but with the return shipping, it wasn't worth the effort. Amazon makes returning items to their pick-up point in San Diego next to impossible unless you're a student at UCSD.
I give them as gifts and everybody loves them so not all is lost.

There just is no better pen in this price range. I've tried them all! It takes a lot of abuse on the points to make the ink come out gloopy! Other brands can come with blobby ink, right out of the package. It's not the ink. It's the ball points that fail to deliver. I suspect the ink is even from the same factory, in at least three major brands of pens. There's absolutely zero difference in the colors, from one pen to the other. Just in the way it flows. Pilot pens are just, plain better pens!
I've never had one that was a dud from the get-go, right out of the package. I've rarely had one that leaked or didn't flow smoothly. If one does begin getting sloppy, it's usually almost empty and I just replace it. Most of my Pilot G2 pens just finally ran out of ink and needed a refill or replacement anyway, after serving me flawlessly!. I don't use any other pens for daily use.
I mostly use them for keeping a records of my daily glucose tests. I can color code the columns and my Doctor loves the little picturs I create for the first page of each month and the easy to read format I created in my graph ruled glucose notebooks. She even makes copies to show to other people, so they will do it the same way or pretty close.
I use red and green for December and draw a Christmas Tree, red and blue for July, Black and Orange for October with a Halloween Motif, Green and Orange for March and St. Patrick's Day, and I draw a birthday cake for the picture on the first page of the month I was born in. It's so nice to be able to put a little fun into my diabetes rituals and make my Doctor smile because she likes my glucose numbers AND my art work! Besides, there are very few diabetes patients that keep complete records of their glucose numbers. Adding some color and creativity to an otherwise horrible reminder, that this is something you'll be doing at least three times a day, until you're in a nursing home, where they do it for you, actually helps a lot. Using nice, durable pens, that last a long time and never let you down can help keep you on track.
I buy my graph-ruled record books, here on Amazon. They're the ones with the music or psychedelic, hippie motifs on the covers. They have larger squares and enough pages to put a week's worth of test results on each right hand page, leaving the left hand pages for notes, appointment reminders and pharmacy order reminders. I use a third color for that stuff.
I have other pens, pencils, markers and paint pens that I reserve ONLY for coloring books, which I handle delicately, so as not to ruin their performance. If Pilot made G2 pen sets in more than just twelve or so colors, they'd be my go-to coloring pens, and I wouldn't need to baby them like I do my 120 color set of cheapies. They would be a pen-coloring enthusiast's Dream Come True!
When I started this review, I was just going to write a few words and be done with it, but, I began thinking about why I love them and how I use them and touught maybe someone creative out there, needs a little incentive to keep good diabetes records too. So I thought if I shared how much fun these pens add to the mundane chore of poking your fingers several times a day, and how happy my records make my Doctor, I figured it couldn't hurt to inspire others to do the same. If you're in the hospital and can give the nurses accurate information about how you respond to insulin and how much to give you, it can save time AND your life!. It pays to have a system and Pilot G2 pens make it simpler!

They are excellent pens, 0.5 ultra fine gets light spots. 0.7mm is perfect, consistency and flow. Best permanent pen. Off topic; Check the erasable pens too. Ink will disappear over 100f though, freezer trick doesn't work, you just have to witte over indents. Friction and heat is the way they disappear. So use these if you leave important documents in your hot car!

I have used these pens for years. The length is so handy for tucking into a pocket, purse, camera bag, etc. Obviously they don't last as long as the full-length ones. The orange and pink are pretty pale, hard to read, but the other colors are fine. The office supply chain has quit carrying them so I was happy to find them here.

Love the G2 pens - that's all I use. I like these for carrying in my pocket to approve things when I'm not at my desk. Quality isn't as good as the large ones, and they dry up quick, but that's the cost of convenience, I guess (luckily, I'm not paying for them, I might be a little more hesitant).
