  • I love these I might buy another pair from my own money.
بواسطة Anthony في 13 April 2018

The best boots I have ever owned. I have owned a bunch for my job, which, is in a shop, on concrete all day. They are a full 3lbs less heavy than my other pairs, and, super comfortable. It's early spring as I am writing this so, in the week I have worn these, I have had sunny and 75°/24°c as well as freezing with an inch of snow. The boots we're comfortable for both. Super breathable, very durable. The insoles are probably the most comfortable insoles I have ever received with footwear, period, but, I changed them out for Dr. scholes. The reason being: I have had the same insoles in a different style of timberland pro, I work long hours, my feet sweat and the insoles in my other pair reek of sadness. That being said, it probably wouldn't be an issue with these particular timberland pro boots, because they are more breathable. My other pair was waterproof and insulated. My shoes almost always stink after a while as I'm sure most people's do, but they were especially bad. I saved the insoles that came with these and might put them back in. If they sink again, it's the insoles' fault. Polyurethane foam in a honeycomb matrix is what they feel like. Again super comfortable just trying a different insole for now.
The rubber tread on the bottom is a more sneaker like design which I particularly like as I find running sneakers most comfortable for footwear. That does however allow the steel toe to reach back and bite the top of your toes when you kneel down. I have experienced this phenomenon before in work boots, and maybe I'm becoming accustom to constant physical agony in my day to day, what with the poo poo job situation but, it honestly seems like this steel toe doesn't bite the tops of my toes nearly as bad as other 'toe biter boots' I've had in the past (run on sentence?). Timberland boots for my money have the most comfortable toe protection if you go for a wide toe. I do wonder if the got away with shaving the back of the toe just a little bit or shaping it differently so that the toe bite is manageable. That extra flex also conforms more with the way I walk and this I feel less fatigue. They also pre removed a little bit of the back corner of the rubber heel if you look, so if you walk heel to toe like I do, that place is the first to wear out. The shaped it to conform to your step so that back corner of your sole doesn't wear away first.
I walk alot in them and never get shin splints. Even if I'm in a hurry. I have had shin splints while wearing every other pair of boots. I could seriously use these boots as running shoes if I were not a fatty fatterson. I think they might be good for hunting and hiking and just walking around. They look nice, feel nice and I'm probably gonna get another pair (or 2...) I don't know, but if you wear steel toe boots alot like I do, these are guaranteed to be an improvement. Stay in school kids.

  • Favorite 6 Year Replacement
    بواسطة T. Q. Le في 13 October 2018

I had one of these 6 years ago when doing naval aviation maintenance in Kuwait and commercial aviation, and finally happy to find these on Amazon. Had to replace the sole like any shoe/boots, and washed only twice on the old ones. After 2 yrs in Kuwait, I wore them working at a car shop, factory work, and 6 more months back in A&P commercial aviation with the same reliability.
These new ones are the exact same ones that I had for 6 years, and worn these ones for at least another 6 months before reviewing.
The toe protection could take a beating from support equipment dropped on it, kicking aircraft jack stands in, hot/cold or dusty climates.
No ankle support, but allows movement while still protecting ankles from metal contact.
Never peeled or got any damage.
These new shoes are forever my favorite for how they've lasted before.
Slip resistance - tested it on all types of jet fuel to have walkable friction. Does not provide adequate friction on direct puddles of hydraulic fluid. But, no matter what fluid is on the bottom, it still grips on dry surfaces like it's clean. That's all that really matters, like if on top of platforms.
The only downsides is that the extra protection makes this shoe heavy as steel toe boots, but easier to run. The slip resistance layer lasted only about a year on the old ones before I noticed it wasn't effective on oils.
Size - go for your shoe size since the steel toe won't allow for much stretching, as an Army downsized boot would. My flatfeet prefers the wide.
This is absolutely the most reliable aviation protective footwear I have used in my 12 years of Naval and Commercial aviation experience, not counting the side maintenance jobs.

  • Update 4 months - Comfortable after adjusting laces.
    بواسطة P Finger في 02 July 2019

After four days of wearing this shoe, I like them. They fit well and support my feet. I did initially find the show too loose fitting. I fixed this simply by tightening the laces and that solved the loose fitting issue. I wish the laces were waxed because they do get untied a couple times a day. I may replace the laces with better quality laces.

Update after 4 months of wear
After 4 months of mostly weekend and weeknight wear the boots are still comfortable. Nothing is torn or broken. There are plenty of marks on the toe covering and leather due to just general wear. I wear these boots to work around my wood workshop, auto repair and for lawn care at my home. I did find the laces need improvement. The laces untie easily and while I haven't replaced them yet, I believe I will do so within the next month. The laces should be a wax coated type and a about 2-4 inches shorter in length.

  • 3rd pair in 12 years
    بواسطة Oli4DK في 16 April 2015

This is my 3rd pair of Timberland PRO in 12 years. I use them as a work shoe in the show production industry, I can say this is a heavy walking field. I lOVE these shoes, I had Wolverines first and the steel toe cut into my toes, Timberland's have never been uncomfortable. I do prefer the higher ankle boots, as they seem to support the complete foot better in my line of work. They are a bit more expensive than the other brands but more than worth the extra $, when they last. I don't think I will ever consider another brand for this purpose workshoe. Love them... My first and second pair that is, this third pair just fell apart on me after just 3 months use.
(Revised on July 6th): purchased them early April, starte using them early May. Last week (Late June) I noticed a 2" rip on the side of the shoe where the toe protection meets the shoe leather. I will be contacting the seller to see what can be done. Hopefully costumer service can help me out.
Edit2: I received a new pair without any difficulty. This new pair seems to last. Just one small comment now that I have been wearing them for a while. I feel this particular model is a lot stiffer and less walking friendly then the pair I had before. After a few miles per day my feet start cramping up as it becomes uncomfortable to walk long distances or times in this model. I will go back to the previous model: Timberland PRO mudslinger.

  • 8.5M is 1/2 size TOO LARGE
    بواسطة aTypicalEngineer808 في 25 August 2014

My normal shoe size is 8.5M. My last two pairs of Timberland Pro boots were the Titan alloy toe, and the Titan soft toe, both 8.5M. I also tried on the Helix at a store, and the correct size for me is 8.5M. However, the 8.5M Hyperion 4 Inch is 1/2 size too large. I did the exchange through Amazon Prime and ordered a 8.0M, and it fits perfectly.

Overall a great shoe, and I love the mid-cut (4 inch) version. The off sizing was a little odd. I think I read one other place where someone said it was 1/2 size too large as well.
