  • Good cooler with one important caveat!
    بواسطة A. Aurelius في 12 September 2018

There are dozens if not hundreds of all in one (AIO) add on liquid coolers on the market now. And Corsair has been making models for more than 10 years now at least. The previous H100i V2 units had more powerful pumps that were unfortunately prone to failure. So, Corsair worked with Asetek to redesign the pump for longer term durability. They also redesigned the RGB LED lighting and added their new "magnetic levitation" fans. And they upgraded the interface so the H100i requires no special BIOS setup (as the H100i V2 did for the CPU_FAN header) and is fully integrated into their new software iCUE.

Now, that all sounds dandy, but how does it actually work? Well, when I finished installing my H100i Pro (the 240mm version with 2 120mm fans), my initial temps were only about 2 deg C better at rest compared to my previous CryOrig H7 air cooler, and about 7 deg C better under Prime95 load for my 8700k cpu (I used Grizzly Kryonaut as my thermal paste). A bit puzzled, I began looking into the iCUE settings and saw that I could set things to either Quiet, Balanced, Extreme or Zero RPM, but only for the fans. I saw in iCUE that the pump was running at about 1080 rpms but I could not click on it to set to a different speed or seem to adjust it. And when I put my head very close to the pump inside the case, I heard just the faintest whirling. Finally, after posting a question about pump speeds at the Corsair User Forums, I found that you need to go to the Performance tab on the left, then set it to another setting (it initially is set to "Quiet"), and then you can see the pump appear as an entry on your right that you can change. Then you can click on the fans or the pump and set them to Quiet, Balanced, Extreme or Zero RPM (which means the pump is not spinning and the fans are not turning - totally passive water cooling).

At this point, I think it is important to note that at no place in the included instructions is there ANY mention that the pump is initially set to "Quiet" mode, or how to change the pump speed, or how to setup the H100i Pro with iCue !!! (I am using iCUE 3.6.109) Without being mean to Corsair, this is extremely poor. And no doubt, many people will buy this unit, see not much improvement and then return it, never realizing that the pump is set too low to begin with.

When I then put my pump into "Balanced" mode, it went from 1080 rpms up to 2150 rpms and the temperatures immediately started to drop. Now, temps are about 5 deg C cooler at desktop rest and about 15 deg C cooler under Prime95 loads. In "Extreme" mode, the pump ramps up to 2950 rpms and my resting desktop temps are about 7 deg C lower and my Prime95 temps are about 20 deg C lower for my Intel 8700k cpu. Big difference. (For day to day use, I keep my pump and fans set to "balanced" mode.) The fans also are high quality and I do not notice them until they spin faster than about 1800 rpms. (they go up to 2450 rpms) It is also great that there is a preset temperature lighting effect that you can set for the waterblock/pump head LED Corsair logo that changes from green to yellow to red based upon the temps you set for the internal coolant.

So, once the kinks were worked out and I had everything set correctly, then the H100i Pro performed admirably. I have only been using my H100i Pro for one month so far, so I cannot say if Corsair changing the pump design is going to result in increased reliability. I can say that they should have stuck with larger 3/8 or 1/2 inch inner diameter coolant tubes (more water, can hold more heat), and they should have made those tubes enter the waterblock/pump head directly for less flow restriction. With the H100i Pro, the small little 1/4 inch tubes enter at cheap plastic 90 degree couplings that will hurt flow and increase temperatures (and increase pressure for the pump, leading to less life).

Because of these small design flaws and the cluster$#@! lack of iCUE instruction or how to set the pump to higher RPMs in the instruction manual, I am deducting one star. Time will tell, and I will come back and update this review, but right now I would say that this is a good AIO cooler that needs a more detailed instruction manual and a few small design changes. 4 out of 5 stars for me.

  • Corsair needs some hearing aids, but otherwise this is the best CPU cooler I've ever owned.
بواسطة Harry في 28 June 2018

IMPORTANT NOTE: You need to install CORSAIR LINK and have the USB adapter installed on the cooler to manage the cooling profiles.

The first cooler I got was filled with air, the pump was loud as hell because of all the bubbles going through the motor. Shaking the cooler while it was running and trying to let it settle did nothing to help. I got an exchange and the new one is much better.

The pump DOES make a whirring sound, so if you're looking for absolute silence and have sensitive hearing, you may hear the pump at times. The maglev fans are insane. They make almost no noise and the zeroRPM feature is great.

Now how about the actual cooling performance? I had a Noctua NH-U14S and the Corsair 1151i PRO gets 10C cooler at idle, and an entire 20C cooler at max load.

Reference numbers for those that care:

NOCTUA: 40C (idle), 75C (max load).

CORSAIR H115i PRO: 30C (idle), 55C (max load).

  • Stay far away if you have a Threadripper. Worst customer support i have ever experienced.
بواسطة Joshua Dooley في 03 October 2018

Bought this and purchased the adapter from corsair. After 4 days waiting for a tracking number on the bracket, there website changed to back ordered. I called corsair, you get people who have no real information, they kept promising i would have the tracking number by end of day. Its now been 14 days since i was supposed to have my tracking order. No one will give you any real answers. No one will respond to my ticket.

This has been the worst customer experience i have ever had. They make a custom bracket so your Asetek one wont work and your dead in the water. I have a 3000$ computer that cant be used because i dont have anyway to attach the cooler to it and no end in site. I could get my bracket tomorrow, or never if the part has been discontinued. Who knows no one from Corsair will talk to me...

  • 20-30C Drop and Dead Silent
بواسطة Cole في 06 February 2018

So far this exceeded my expectations. Going from a Hyper 12EVO I ran about 85C at 4.8Ghz on all 4 cores (i7-7700k).
This helps keep ambient temperature inside the case low, and I'm now at 4.8Ghz that peaks at 68C.
Yes... I saw at the very worst a 20C temp drop. Granted I did change my thermal paste from arctic silver to MX4 as well, so take that into consideration.
It's dead silent even when the fans are at max. It's hard to not be impressed by this baby. Take care of your CPU and I would recommend MX4. It's one of the best thermal pastes you can get that's not electrically conductive.
If I had to guess I would say this is about a fifth as loud as my Hyper 12EVO fan at max rpm. It really doesn't even have to spin past 80% max to keep temps below 70C.

    Relevant specs:
    Gigabyte Works Z270 Gaming 5
    (Don't buy this POS MOBO)
    i7-7700k (4.8Ghz on 4 cores at 1.32V)
MX-4 Thermal paste, full coverage blob method
    Zotac AMP! 1080 Ti

  • Really nice cooler
بواسطة Tyler Monroe في 22 January 2018

I traded my H100i got this 360mm H150i pro and it works amazing so far. I ditched the fans it came with because they dont push that much air. They are really quiet tho, but I'd rather have a cooler system for a better overclock. Im seeing a 20-25c drop in temps with the H150i with Vardar F4 120er fans. I used the same fans on the H100i for reference. Really worth it for an I7 8700k if you're overclocking. My chip would thermal throttle with the H100i almost instantly at anything over 4.7. Now im sitting at 5.1ghz and in the high 70's mid 80's while benching. In games its at 40 or so.
