  • Great Value
بواسطة CTBenko في 16 January 2017

This was exactly what I needed with 1 potentially big issue (Ill mention in cons). I needed a dual port Gigabit NIC that fit into a half length mini PCIe slot on a ASRock Z87E-ITX. I use this machine as a server with Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials. The onboard Intel I217V is technically not compatible with Win Server but editing the inf makes it possible to install. This meant that I never update the driver as it would be a pain. It worked fine but I got a new router () that supported teaming 2x Gigabit NICs for 2Gbps. I wanted to get a GBe NIC that supported Win Server 2012 R2, could be teamed, and supported other tech like jumbo frames.

While I could have gotten a NIC that was standard PCIe (upto x16) I wanted to avoid this if I could because space is limited in my server. I was not using the min PCIe slot as it usually has a Wifi/bluetooth card and I didnt need that for the server. I was not having much luck finding dual port mini PCIe cards that I thought could support teaming. I came across an Intel I350T2V2 variant somewhere online but not from reputable sites and didnt want to take the chance. Then I stumbled on this at Amazon. I figured for $30 it was worth a shot and I could likely return it if I had problems.

I am sure happy I tried it as it has exceeded my expectations.

    Pros:
-Well packaged, seems well made physically
-Cables are long enough but not too long (may be a problem in larger ATX or larger but in ITX or even an mATX build I think its reasonable)
-Ports are spaced out well from each other.
-Show as 2 distinct NIC's in Device manager
-Win Server 2012 R2 installed drivers automatically (from 2013 for me)
-Realtek website had installer from very recent in 2016 for drivers, as a bonus it didnt install other junk.
-Supports 9k jumbo frames, WOL, etc.

    Cons:
-NOT, I repeat NOT a Half sized mini PCIe card. This is full sized according to my understanding of the terminology/spec. Half size is ~26/27mm long and full is ~51mm. I didnt measure it exactly but my wifi card I removed is exactly 26mm and this was about 2x as long. It just barely fit and did not line up with the screw whole of the half height. It seems snug enough and I dont move my server ever so I am not worried about it.

    Other thoughts:
Well worth it. Was getting 112MB/s xfer from desktop to server for a large files. I am now getting 118MB/s using this card (9k jumbo frames enabled). I also have the peice of mind that my server could output ~2Gbps to multiple devices at the same time. So far very happy I found this.

  • Great adapter for a server machine
بواسطة Skylar Jensen في 17 February 2018

Great adapter for a server machine, or in my case, a PFSense router build.

A quick tip (this card uses 4 Realtek NIC chips): test the card in a test bench PC with the latest version of whatever OS you are using. in my case, my test bench PC running Windows 10 1709 detects the card immediately and it works as advertised. all 4 ports connect at Gigabit speeds, provided you also have a Gigabit Ethernet Switch.

As for recommendations, if you need a cheap multi-port network card for a server machine, router build, or some other application, I give this card a 5 out of 5 based on my experience with this $40 card.

  • Keeps Disconnecting!
بواسطة Jim Fritz في 29 May 2019

This adapter is absolutely awful! From the time I installed it, it's been nothing but trouble. I thought Syba had decent quality products, but I was wrong.
First after installation, only one port would actually connect. It turns out that both ports have the same MAC address! I've seen this before on cheap Chinese Bluetooth adapters, but never on a NIC adapter. Once I manually assigned a different MAC to the 2nd port, I was able to transfer data for short bursts with one or the other adapter for a short time, but with both active, transfers wouldn't even start and the connection would disconnect. So much for using SMB Multichannel. Teaming the adapters does work, but speed is never any faster than 1 Gbps total, even to 2 different NAS units at the same time.

  • Not for PCI Passthrough in ESXi or PFsense
بواسطة Scott في 16 April 2017

Product works as advertised, meaning it's a NIC that does NIC things. Does -not- work with ESXi out the box, you have to attach drivers to the installer which was expected, however, PCI passthrough will not work at all regardless of driver version. Additionally PFsense didn't seem to like this NIC as well, even though it worked well with my other realtek card. I sent this back for an Intel nic just to remove the headaches.

  • GENERIC BRAND, NOT Syba. WORKS FINE
بواسطة Stephanie Sullivan في 04 November 2014

I was disappointed to see the Syba brand product I thought I'd purchased was instead a generic model of the same kind of card. This is confidence uninspiring in the vendor.

The card seems to be working fine and I was able to get updated drivers from the RealTek web site.I visually confirmed the chips are the RTL8111E chips I was after. They support advanced features like jumbo frames and dedicated VM support.

Because it's working fine for my application in my system I'd give it 5 stars, but I don't like getting different brand than I thought I was buying. If they had mentioned this could or would be the case in the product description I probably would have been fine with it.

Like I said - mine is working fine. But I can't say what you'll get if you buy this product. Two stars lost on this review because it wasn't the brand I ordered, even if the card is functionally the same.

    Hope this helps someone.
