“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” Those are the words of Leonardo da Vinci, who brought that sensibility to all of his artistic endeavors, including the many footwear prototypes he sketched out. In creating the Kenilworth, Allen Edmonds was inspired by this Italian’s artistic notion and married it with a uniquely American design. The result? A shoe that is at once aesthetically pleasing while also being inherently straightforward. Impressive in its stunning lack of adornment, this three-eyelet plain-toe blucher with a single oak leather sole is the essence of refinement. Built on the 5-Last to achieve a long and narrow silhouette, the Kenilworth is class personified and the ultimate footwear to match with a tuxedo or formal business attire. Finished off with a burnished toe and intricately beveled sole, this is a design an Old Master would be proud to wear.

  • Great shoe, BUT get the right size!
By vAmazonAccount on 26 November 2013

I ended up exchanging this out at the store (yes I bought it online here on their Amazon store to save money....they don't care).

Anyway, here's what you need to know. I've been wearing shoes for 36 years and just learned a few things:

1.) I normally wear a 10.5 in everything from tennis shoes to dress shoes. From Saucony to Gucci...it's a 10.5.

Now, what I didn't know was that the Reason most people (or many people anyway, including me) wear a size (say 10.5) is because they Really needed a smaller shoe, but if they got that smaller (length) shoe, it would be too Skinny for them. So, you get 10.5 when you really need a 10, so you can "get the width". The problem is....the shoe is too long (and etc, because it's not just length).

AE's suggestion is to get: "One full size Bigger in the width and one 1/2 size Smaller on the length" because you need that, and because most shoe companies don't have the extra width sizes.

2.) So that worked for me. I usually wear a 10.5 D (D = Normal width)....And what I ended up with at AE for these shoes is a 10.0 E.

The shoes wear well, but you need to get the rubber bottoms put on (not standard zip soles alone, get nice rubber bottoms just about the same cost). If you don't, you'll wear these out unless you're having someone pick you up in a limo everyday.

Another Tip: Do you live in NYC? Ship it to the Amazon "Locker" in the 7-Eleven in Hoboken and you don't pay tax. $5.00 on the PATH train, and your lunch break, and you'll have them. Also, fill out the Amazon Newsletter thing if they still link to it and get another 20% off, which is like $50.

  • High quality and versatile shoe
By Eric on 30 March 2015

TLDR: Make sure you get your Allen Edmonds size before buying a pair of their shoes. Once you get the sizing down, purchase a high quality pair that will last you a while.

    Quality:
High quality leather. Versatile style and color.

    Comfort:
Wear them just for a couple hours at a time until they break in and become comfortable.

    Fit:
I wear a 10.5 in Tennis shoes / sneakers, a 10.0 D in most dress shoes. With the 65 last that these and other popular Allen Edmonds shoes (Park Ave, Strand) I follow the rule of one length down and one width up and wear a 9.5 E. When I got sized at my local Allen Edmonds store, they recommend I get a 9.5 D to accumulate the Blucher design and potential side bowing issues that sometimes occur.

    Price:
With the rising cost of everything, Allen Edmonds have been rising these prices lately. Their current retail for a typical pair of shoes are now $395. I'm glad Amazon is able to carry these at a discount. They also ship fast and their customer service is just as good as Allen Edmonds (Both A+ companies).

    Note:
Amazon only sells factory firsts. You can tell because seconds will have a little hammer or two holes drill in the bottom of the soles. The variation in quality is because these shoes are handmade. I've had similar signs with factory firsts purchased directly through Allen Edmonds. Those minor issues won't be noticeable after the first time you wear them anyways.

  • Well made, but not my taste.
By Allie Cannon on 23 September 2015

Toe is a little too big and rounded, for my needs. I would like a more tapering design, but it did provide more toe room. Not as elegant as I needed, so I sent them back.

  • Very well made and good fit
    By M. Weissman on 21 March 2014

These shoes, like all of the Allen Edmonds that I've worn are terrific. Very well made, look great and fit fine. I highly recommend them.

  • Great Shoes for a Great Price
By kevin on 12 April 2013

I got these shoes on a special sale, so they were definitely worth it. They look way better in person and in natural light than pictured here. I've worn them a couple times already, and they are extremely comfortable. I did not experience any discomfort unlike my dress shoes I purchased from Japan. They are a little bigger than I expected though they still fit fine. I would definitely recommend these to anyone.
