  • Excellent boots
By Charles Darwin on 18 March 2017

As has been stated a multitude of times, get a size larger. I'm a size 11 and listened to the collective wisdom and voice of Amazon commenters and went with a 12. I'm glad I did. Took these on a trip up the side of Mt. Evans in March with temps in the high teens and was toasty the entire time. They also worked wonderfully with my snow shoes and my microspikes. I took the insert out kept them in my bag with me throughout the night. When I woke at 4 and had to pee it was super easy to slide these on and then into the boots to step out into the wind and cold. Maybe too much info, but those of you who winter camp get it. I love these boots.

  • Awesome boots!
By Amazon Customer on 08 January 2017

Definitely order at least 1 size up from your normal shoes. I typically wear a 10.5 or 11 so I ordered a 12. The length is just right. Not much room at the end, but it's fine as I don't want it any bigger. This year is the first I've been able to break them out. Purchased almost a year ago, and just haven't had the opportunity to try them. These boots are incredible. Easy to walk around in, extremely warm, and snow/water resistant. I was outside in 8"+ snow for hours with no issue. My feet stayed warm with just a regular tube-type sock. Nothing heavy or fancy. When I came in and took them off, my feet were dry as a bone. The pull straps in the front and back are great for putting the boots on. I have to do a little more research to see what's up with the laces. When I tighten them up a bit, it ends up giving about 10" of slack in the laces...which want to just hang. Not sure what I'm supposed to do with that, but I'll be looking into it (they don't tie like a normal shoes).

  • Quality? one off maybe?
By Jellen on 30 April 2017

I do think these are most likely really good boots, size was good and warmth claims seem right. More comfortable than Soral boots I have owned in the past for weight alone. Now the messy part, there is a unique lacing system with this model, not saying its bad will probably take a while to get used to. The first and only time I had a chance to wear the boots was already outside the normal return window (we had a very mild winter) The rivet holding on of the eyelets came out of the second hole releasing the gromet to tighten the laces. I still used them for the afternoon of shoveling snow and my warm feet didn't know the difference. Life is busy so a few days later I pulled the boot apart (took the liners out) I tried to show some detail in the pictures just hard to see it, very easy in person there was something wrong the rivets on the left boot are miss struck and not properly formed. I included a picture of the right for comparison they seem smooth and well formed. Baffin ask me to contact the retailer.

  • Very warm boot
By Theador S. Taylor on 12 February 2018

Wanted a boot that I could pretty much slip on and off vs. tying. Based on other reviewed I ordered a size 10 although I typically wear a 8.5. There is some room in the heal area but that doesn't concern me as much. I bought these primarily for snow blowing the driveway and short walks. I believe the issue with the sizing for most people is this boot as an insulated insert which will take up one size in itself. If you remove the insert it would most likely be an average size. I probably could have gone with a 9 as I only plan on wearing one pair of socks. I live in the Midwest and they are extremely warm with one pair. Almost too warm. Wife and kids love these as well. Happy with purchase.

  • Not for active winter sports, follow advice of others when sizing.
By Kippfo on 11 March 2018

When I ordered these boots I followed the advice of others and ordered a size 10 mens. I wear a size 9 shoe. I gave this boot four stars because for what I wanted them for they were way too warm. I do a lot of high mountain back country snowmobiling which can be very active and produce a lot of body heat. These boots use a heat reflective material on the bottom and the insulated liners have the same material in them. The first time I wore these I wore a medium thick moisture wicking sock. After a nine hour day riding in freezing winds my feet never got cold but once I got back down to the truck and took them off my socks and feet were soaked. The second time I wore them I used a very thin copper sock and the same thing happened. The next day I removed the bottom reflective sole and I used my 22 year old Sorel liners, this fixed the problem and I was warm and dry all day.

I love the look of these boots and they are comfortable but I hate the way they lace up, they are difficult to get snug and the eyelets are not made to put in a thicker lace. I like Baffin boots but next time I will try another style for snowmobiling.
