The Sony NEX to Canon EOS body mount adapter with aperture control can provide compatibility to a whole new selection of lenses at a fraction of the cost. This adapter allows for Canon EOS lenses to be mounted onto any Sony E mount camera body. Its additional manual aperture control offers the photorgrapher optimal versatility in manipulating light through the lens. Though the lens fits and works seamlessly as an adapter, the automatic diaphragm (AE metering) and other autofocus functions do not work with this adapter. You can use the lens in fully manual exposure mode or in aperture-priority mode. It contains no optics and guarantees infinity focus.

  • Worth the extra money to be able to control, albeit, indirectly, aperture opening in EF lenses!
By Bill Booz on 30 November 2013

I was reluctant to spend this much money for an adapter but considering how many Canon EF lenses it would mean I could use with my Olympus PEN E-PL3, I decided it was worth it. Then, I worried that since this supplier had the same adapter for much less ($115) than the others I saw, there would be a catch. There wasn't! Adapter fits my MFT camera perfectly and the lenses I've tried also fit and worked perfectly. Since an EF lens will only work at its widest aperture opening (unless you preset it while on your Canon camera, hold down the DoF preview, and remove the lens - hey, that wasn't going to happen with me), the advantage of this adapter is that it comes with its own controllable opening in steps from 1 to 6 (these don't equate to any particular aperture and it will vary, anyway, from lens to lens) that, therefore, allow you to vary how open an aperture you have on your EF glass. That's what you're paying the extra bucks for and I decided it was worth it.

Bottom line is that it does work and I just have to experiment with it to get a feel for what works best with which EOS lens of mine. It certainly adds breath to my lens selection for my Olympus PEN E-PL3 camera!

  • Not accurate description
By Shortstop on 07 September 2018

The heading says that this is a micro 4/3 to a Canon mount. However the description says that it is a Canon mount to a micro 4/3. Big discrepancy here. I would not trust this on any level.
