  • Cheaper than big box store
By Etienne on 16 April 2013

These are pretty much required if you are stuck with a non-vented range hood. Because of the inside wall placement of our cook top, the only way to vent a hood would require major work and cost. Maybe when I win Powerball, I can renovate the kitchen. Ha, forget that, I will walk away from the house when that happens, shouting so long suckers... But since I'm too cheap to buy a ticket, and an overeducated, lowly paid chimp to boot, no way that's happening. Anyway, these work well to capture the splatters better than the aluminum mesh panels alone (these are installed on top of the aluminum mesh, so I may be stretching here). As for odor removal, they probably do not contain enough activated carbon to completely remove odors, but do seem to help some. Cooking is about the smells, too, so why hide them. If it smells as bad as Durian fruit, you better cook and eat it outside. I figure they may help keep grease out of the hood interior, too. The cost is much less than the big box stores, so a no brainer purchase from Amazon. Recommended for tightwads like myself. Probably need to replace on a six month basis.

Followup from January 2014. I have not replaced these on a six months basis (too cheap). Still works fine, so my review stands. If you happen to have the same Broan hood that takes four halogen bulbs, I also suggest the following LED bulbs as a substitute for the hot and less efficient halogen bulbs, . These bulbs fit with a little adjusting of the fixture (there are screws holding each bulb socket in place). I have had these in place for six moths without issue.

  • clips are included, fit on top of the grease filters perfectly!
By Nicole M. Tankovich on 19 August 2015

Awesome. Cheapest price I could find. They fit perfectly on the Broan BPPFA30 Aluminum Grease Antimicrobial Replacement Filter for QP130, 2-Pack I ordered from Amazon too.

Note: the pictures for this item do NOT show clips, which I didn't think was a big deal. However, it turns out you DO need them. I panicked a bit when I first got the item, thinking they weren't included. BUT never fear - they are packed in two separate tiny plastic zip-top bags BETWEEN the two filters.

  • The smell goes out with the filters
    By J Rogers on 28 December 2018

While boiling peanuts I allowed the water to get get boiled out of the pot. I tried to add water to the hot pot and the steam came out with a horrible burnt odor. This odor permeated my entire house and stayed prevalent for several days. I could not find the oven top filters locally so decided to go on line and discovered them on Amazon. Ordered them and replaced the originals and the smell went away after several day. Happy me.They work.

  • Great! Odors greatly reduced
By Grits on 03 September 2012

When our kitchen was remodeled, the stove was moved and the old ducting was not in a convenient-enough spot for a new ducted range hood. So we had to "settle" for a non-ducted range hood. At first, without the charcoal filter - just the grease filter that came with it - the odors were quite noticeable. But since we got the added odor filters, it's GREAT. In some respects, we're happier with this arrangement now because we don't have heated air going up the ducting in the winter and wasting home heating money. Yes, it's a bit warmer in the summer not being able to take as much heat out of the kitchen, but that's a temporary thing compared to 24/7 wasted heat going up the old ducting.

And the pricing through Amazon was far better than we could get the filters locally.

  • Arrived bent
    By C Johnson on 17 November 2018

Fits my range hood and easy to install... But arrived bent. The frame is pushed in and the filter bows down when installed. About once a week, it will randomly crash on to the stove (when no one is in the kitchen, much less touching it).
