Use this DisplayPort to DVI cable to connect your DVI equipped HDTV or monitor to the DisplayPort connector on your computer without the hassle of using a separate adapter. This adapter cable offers a convenient and cost-effective solution for taking full advantage of the capability of your DVI display, without the expense of upgrading to a DisplayPort monitor. Gold-plated connectors provide optimal signal transfer. Note: This DisplayPort adapter cable operates passively and is designed for use with dual mode graphics cards often designated with "D++". Although the vast majority of source devices with DisplayPort are dual mode, it is recommended that you consult with your computer or graphics card manufacture to verify compatibility with passive adapters.

  • Remove that VGA-to-VGA cable, and use this for your DisplayPort on your DVI-capable monitor.
By Homers Odyssey on 29 September 2017

I have four Acer 22-inch monitors, and the 16:10 aspect ratio (1680x1050 res) never didn't work with the VGA ports on any video card I've used. They automatically pick native resolution whenever data runs through the monitor's DVI port, whether from DVI output from the computer, or via an HDMI-to-DVI or DisplayPort-to-DVI cable.

Besides the OEM video card on my home computer (which supports DVI, HDMI and VGA outputs), I installed a Radeon HD5450 PCIe1x which I also purchased from Amazon (DVI, DisplayPort and VGA outputs). Great card, by the way. I was using the DVI output to one of the monitors, and the VGA output (unsatisfactorily) to the monitor on the far right. I was wondering, how was I going to be able to not use that VGA output from the card, and use the DisplayPort digital feed instead so that my monitor could once again work properly?

This cable was the answer for my monitor on the far right with that new Radeon card. I removed the VGA-to-VGA cable, installed this DisplayPort-to-DVI cable, and I was automatically back to native resolution and proper color table selection. The Hong Kong skyline stretching from left to right on my four monitors now looks great!

  • Comparison With AmazonBasics Cable
    By J H Murphy on 26 June 2019

We acquired a number of new PCs in one of our student labs, and the new PCs came with DisplayPort rather than VGA, HDMI, or DVI connectors. We had been using DVI before, so I acquired one each of this adapter cable and the AmazonBasics DisplayPort-DVI cable for comparison.

The monitors are HP ZR2240Ws. We are using them at 1920 by 1080 resolution. There have been no display issues with either cable.

The Cablelera seems very solidly constructed. The connectors are larger and the cable itself is thicker than the AmazonBasics unit. It measures about three feet in length. It arrived in a plastic ZipLoc-style bag.

The only negative about the Cablelera adapter, ironically, stems from its solid construction. The HP monitors we use have a square protrusion about 1/4" deep below the DVI jack. This made attaching the cable a little fiddly.

Price wise, the Cablelera is about 30 percent less than the AmazonBasics unit. So, if your monitors have a clear entry to the DVI connector, this is a good choice.

  • Excellent cable, but make sure you have some space for the DVI end.
By McCauley Savage on 11 April 2018

I've been using this for a good while now for my center monitor on my desktop setup (currently using an NVidia GTX 670 graphics card and three 1080p monitors) and this cable has been performing admirably. It also has a hefty build quality with very thick insulation around the cable.

No complaints, but one warning. The brick at the DVI end of the cable is HUGE and ill-suited for some monitors. Double check that you have a couple inches of clearance coming out of your DVI connection before purchasing. It doesn't work on some of my monitors for this reason.

  • Great Value
By aotsukisho on 02 December 2017

The 6ft DP-DVI cable is the cheapest available at the time, and it shows. As others have mentioned, the DVI plug is much longer than normal and the thumbscrews on the DVI plug are molded smooth (no knurling for grip) which makes it difficult to tighten them by hand (especially when upside down and in a blind spot during installation). The cable itself is quite stiff, slightly more than the average OEM DVI cable that come with some monitors.

The DP connector is fortunately quite good. All I've installed so far have clicked into place flawlessly.

Despite the cheap feel, these have been so far sufficient for office use. The installation inconveniences of the DVI side will probably make you leave that end connected to the monitor when moving things around.

  • Did not work
By missyb on 08 July 2017

I tried this to connect my 2nd monitor to my laptop docking station. The first monitor is using the display port connection so I was hoping this one could connect using the dvi-d port on the dock. The dock is fine and works with other monitors/ cables. This cable just did not work.
