  • Capezio's quality is going downhill
By CommyRommy on 17 October 2013

I am more and more disappointed with Capezio's quality with every new style I get. I like to buy the discontinued styles off Ebay when I find them in my size, but that's getting harder!

You get what you pay for with these but they are not as bad as the satin latin heels I purchased another time. The sole of the shoe is too long, it extends past my big toe but it could be worse. This is not what I want when I'm dancing tango, but since these are practice shoes I can't complain too much. Still though, it's a dance shoe and the soles should not be designed this way. Nine West and Kenneth Cole street heels do not have these issues!

The sole is suede and flexible, as expected. The heel is a standard flare. The straps are a little long if you choose your true size, if you go down a half size the shoe fits snugly, you won't get as long a sole, and your straps wont be as long. So, order a half size down if you want a snug shoe.

The design is a little ugly. The toe box is made of a narrow strip across the top of the foot which 1) doesn't hold the toes in well, 2) is prone to digging and pinching into the knuckles of the toes because the strip is so thin and sits right where the toes bend.

All in all, you get what you pay for and I make the mistake of expecting more from Capezio. I only use Capezio heels for practice because I know they will not be flattering enough for formal dances and performances.

I am accustomed to wearing these shoes without insoles or other padding so to me these are as comfortable as I expect for a 2" capezio heel. If you are not used to dancing in thin soled shoes, do not order a half size down because there will liekly not be room for additional padding.

  • Great pair of shoes for beginner salsa dancers
By Nicole Glass on 05 February 2015

This was my very first pair of salsa shoes. Now that I've been dancing for months and have about 7-8 pairs of shoes, I can attest to the fact that these shoes are great. They are comfortable, easy to break in and easy to dance in. However, there are other salsa shoes on Amazon that are more comfortable - but also more expensive. These are a great pair to start with (I have 2 pairs). When I first started dancing, I wore Band-aids every time I put on salsa shoes (including these). But that had more to do with my feet than with the shoes. I no longer need to use Band-aids.

  • Perfect fit
    By L on 19 March 2019

Capezio usually runs small for me, but having the .5 option over size 10 sf fantastic for us large footed women. For sooooo many years I wished for this. 10 is too short, yet the 11 was too long, now, perfect! Lightweight with good shank and heel support. Suede sole makes for a smooth and fast dance floor. Will order again. And I know that the seller has no control over this; only con, the packaging from UPS was FILTHY. I had to wash my hands before I could unbox them.

  • Heel height is not great if you plan to dance more than 2 hours!
    By A. McIntosh on 20 July 2014

These shoes fit according to size, they are well constructed and have good padding on the inside. I got them wide because I have a bigger foot and usually need some extra space in the front.

I've used these shoes several times and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt because sometimes you need to break shoes in. Regardless, I took a 2 hour dance class and wanted to throw these shoes out the window afterwards. They become uncomfortable the longer you wear them (that was my experience). I had even placed a small gel insole at the tip of the shoe for extra comfort and that did not help. I think that the issue with these shoes is the heel and it's height. My feet were red at the toes and they hurt really bad the next day. Definitely not the right kind of support if you're looking to have these on all night.

For the rest, the shoes look very flattering and the lining under the shoes allows you to glide and slide as you are dancing. I was using these for a salsa and bachata class (latin) and west coast swing. I bought them on amazon for a fair price of 47$ and I had to invest in an additional pair at the studio which was more comfortable.

By christina on 19 September 2016

I am a ballroom dance instructor and have always loved capezio. The first one of this style was my street shoe size of 6.5 and it was tight. I thought it might stretch but after walking around in my house for a few minutes I was in pain. So I returned it and got the next size up and am happy. Shoe still hurts after a few hours but not bad and I think after it breaks in more it will be a very comfortable show. Be careful , maybe wear some band aides the first few times because I did get a blister.
