  • Nice shoes but prefer the Bloch
By Errolowl on 20 August 2013

I'm a beginner at tap and I initially bought the Bloch Women's Tap-Flex Tap Shoe in my street size (5.5). It was a little tight, so I ordered the Capezio Women's Flex Master Tap shoe in a size 6. Though the shoes fit well, I found that I preferred the construction of the Bloch and returned the Capezio. Both are nice shoes and sound great. Here's a comparison:

    Capezio Flex master:
    - Shape is different. It looks and feels somewhat like a ballet shoe mounted on heels
    - Very soft and flexible right out of the box. In fact, too soft and flexible for me because I could feel the edge of the heel transfer through to the insole. Probably something to get used to with time, but I found the feeling distracting.
    - The heel is rather long and extends forward almost to the arch. This may not be a problem in larger size shoes. The Bloch heel stayed well back from the arch.
    - The blue insole is comfortable at the heel but stops just beyond the arch. The ball and toe area appear unfinished inside and I kept feeling the transition through my socks.

    Bloch Tap-Flex:
    - Shaped more like an Oxford, wider at the ball and tapering toward the toes
    - Soft leather upper. The flex sole is stiffer out of the box than the Capezio. A couple of weeks and the flexibility has improved while still providing support.
    - There is no stitching around the support at the back of the shoe in the Achilles tendon area. The edge of the support caused some friction but nothing a pair of socks will not mask.

    Hope that helps!

  • Fabulous Tap Shoes!
By MK on 06 September 2017

I have a hard to fit size 11 Wide foot. My tap sneakers were 18 years old and literally falling apart. I took a chance and ordered these Capezio tap shoes and am thrilled with the comfort and the fit! They are also much lighter and more flexible than my old tap sneakers and the sound they produce is more musical - love them!

  • Perfect adult tap shoe!
By Jennifer Mackler on 10 July 2019

I have a wide toe box and narrow ankle and my street shoe size is 8. The 8 Wide Capezio was a perfect fit- a comfortable fit in the toe box and the ankle was perfect too (not too wide). The cushion in the heal is fantastic and the split sole feels great for dancing. I'd highly recommend.

  • Happy Tap
By His eye is on the sparrow on 02 October 2017

These tap shoes fit perfectly! After reading other reviews, I ordered a half size larger and it's perfect. I'm usually a 6 and ordered a 6 1/2. I wear a thin footie or tights and never notice that the insole is only in the heel half of the shoe. Great tap shoe!

  • Beware of stiff tap shoes
    By Lisa W on 14 May 2015

received the exchange for the first pair since the tap shoe was a little too big. My daughter noticed the replacement pair was "stiff". Which was odd because the black pair was flexible; no stiffness. I explained she needed to break them in. She finally agreed after having the shoes for 5-7 weeks. THE SHOE CAME APART. The sole where the tap is attached has separated from the shoe. Per Amazon-- won't replace.

Lesson learned not to allow your daughter to delay breaking in a new pair of shoes ....
