  • 1/2 size larger than usual....they're perfect
By DLaine on 11 January 2018

I would say the Fit is as expected because they recommend you purchase larger, and I did. I ordered up 1/2 size of what I usually wear, and they are great. I usually wear a 7 1/2, and ordered an 8. I can wear a light sock, which is ideal for dance class.
The shoes are comfortable and look like a nice character shoe without being too high. The taps are on securely and the buckle is comfortable when adjusted properly.

  • TOO SMALL!
By hambone on 24 May 2013

I didn't know WHAT to think when I ordered these - some reviews said too small, some said too big, and many said they fit just right - it's like a shoe store run by Goldilocks. The shoes were lovely and exactly what I wanted, especially the arch support - but too snug in the toes. YAY for Amazon's easy returns and refunds! I ordered my street size originally, a size 10, but I've just returned those and re-ordered a 10.5. There was NO way I could have danced in those shoes! I have to wonder if the difference is age, spread, width, things like that. I wear a size 10 but I've been pregnant 5 times, I'm 35, and my feet aren't as narrow as they used to be, maybe it's just that. I don't know, but for me, my street size wasn't big enough. I think the 10.5 will be perfect, though. I'll edit when I get them in a few days :) I would 100% recommend going up a half-size. A trifle too big is better than too tight, imo.

  • Size 8.5 Perfect Fit - Shoe Did Not Run Half Size Too Small
By chizzie on 29 July 2015

Extremely happy with my new tap shoes! I was concerned about the description stating that these shoes run a half size too small. I'm glad I trusted my gut after reading thru a few amazon reviews, ordering my normal shoe size, 8.5, because they are a PERFECT fit! Not snug or tight. Very comfortable. They feel just like character shoes, but with taps on them. Loved too that the metal was attached and I didn't need to take them to a shoe store to get the taps affixed like back in the day... :-)

So if you choose to buy these tap shoes, and if you are lucky like me that they fit immediately, you can begin tapping right away!

  • The wide width is NOT wide at all.
    By D. Hogan on 05 January 2018

But I ordered the wide width and I'm sorry to say it's not wide at all. It's still a very narrow shoe, which renders it useless for me. :( It seems like a great and well made shoe, though, which is why I gave it three stars. If you have a narrow foot, these might work out great for you.

  • Perfect price, comfort, style, and sound!
By Gina Lewis on 28 November 2013

I love these tap shoes! I ordered a half-size larger than my normal shoe size, based on other reviewer's comments, and they fit great. The sound is crystal clear, the entire shoe feels well-made, and the strap fits snuggly across my foot. I started wearing them for several hours at a time as soon as I got them - they are incredibly comfortable. One reviewer mentioned a problem with "toe-cleavage", and another reviewer said the caramel color was strange. I didn't have either of these problems. Some of the other ladies in my tap class went with other styles/brands, and they had problems with "toe-cleavage", strange shades of caramel, straps breaking after hours of practice, and straps that weren't as comfortable. I spent several weeks reviewing tap shoes (I even researched the expensive brand that the Rockettes wear), and I settled on these because they were the entire package of price, comfort, style, and sound. Until I can afford the style that the Rockettes wear, I'll be wearing these.
