  • Works beautifully in my Kamado Joe!

    You may have noticed the puzzling dimensions provided in the product description. They make no sense at all. Even so, the stone looked good in the picture so I gave it a chance. The stone is a little less than 1" thick. The overall diameter is about 17", and the diameter of the inner circle, so to speak, is about 13". I used it already to smoke a rack of babybacks and was able to keep the temp below 250 F. for the prescribed 3 hours using almost no charcoal at all. I covered it with a makeshift drip pan fashioned from foil, and it survived the session looking like it just came out of the box. Great price too -- saved over $100 by not buying the BGE brand. Highly recommend it for clay Kamado pot owners.

  • Don't Smoke Without It

    If you have the Kamado Akorn grill then this is a must have. It will allow you to cook with indirect heat, can't smoke meats low and slow without it. It is well made and should last forever. It sits low enough in the grill to allow for a 2 inch tall drip pan to sit right on top of it for a water pan or to catch drippings. Top of the stone to the bottom of the cooking grate on the Akorn is 3 inches. I have smoked chickens, brisket, pork loin, and burgers and they have come out perfect. Worth the money. If you have the Akorn grill go online to the Ceramic Grill Store and buy the stainless 16" water pan. It is a Stainless pizza pan that will fit on top of the stone and is well made. I wrap it in foil when I use it as a water pan or to catch the drippings, makes clean up easy.

    Does a good job on the Acorn. I wrap in foil and put a drip pan on it to help keep it clean. I haven't used it for pizza only for heat control for indirect.

  • MUST HAVE KAMADO ACCESSORY

    Besides the cover, this smokin stone is the only other accessory we purchased for our new Char Griller Akorn Kooker. It appears to be made of the same ceramic type material as "pizza stones" and should double as one if you want to cook a pizza on the Akorn. It does a wonderful job of deflecting the direct heat when cooking roast, chicken and other foods that you don't want direct heat for. Fits perfectly on the tabs inside the Akorn. One note it does turn dark brown after several uses which is to be expected [my pizza stone I've used for years in the oven is almost black]. It is easy to clean with water [as with my pizza stone I never use detergent] and a brush for stubborn spots. The smokin stone is a must have accessory for the Char Griller Kamado!

    Although I have only used the stone for cooking pizza and a couple of other items, I know it will work perfectly as a heat deflector when smoking meats etc. The stone is solid and pretty easy to clean. I can definitely recommend this product. BTW, pay close attention when cooking pizzas for the first time. If you get the temp up around 500 or 600 degrees, your pizza is going to cook very quickly, but very perfectly. :) Trust me on this, we had a quite crunchy pizza the first time. Another tip… Watch to ensure the pizza edges are setup to keep everything on the pie so you don't have a mess to clean up on your grill later.
