  • Way too narrow width for this shoe
By Myron on 12 July 2018

I traditionally wear a 9 E in a dress shoe, but go up a size with hiking shoes considering using heavier socks, foot swelling under longer treks, etc. Going up a full size sometimes takes care of the need I have for a greater width. My Salomon size 10 hikers were too tight, although otherwise good shoes. I needed to replace them, so I went with the Columbia Redmond shoes in at a size over my regular size in an EE. I thought with that margin for error, I could not go wrong. Well, I was wrong. These one size over my traditional size in an EE were too narrow, even, it seems, more narrow than my existing Salomons despite the Salomons being of normal width. I will be returning my Redmonds. These manufacturers, wanting to save on manufacturing costs, don't want to make sizes that will fit use. There are not may choices out there for wide width hiking shoes and it appears that some suggesting they are wide are exaggerating, misrepresenting, their products. --Myron

  • Not Waterproof, Not even a little...
By Prosite on 17 September 2018

This shoe is not waterproof. Walking in wet grass will get my feet wet every time. I'm not even walking in water puddles, just wet grass. The last pair I had were water proof. I think these might have missed the process. Not happy and its too late to return so I guess I have to let them dry and try to use some water repellent myself.

  • Way too narrow for a 12EE shoe.
By Sanka on 26 March 2018

I bought the Columbia Men’s Redmond Hiking shoes in wide (EE). These are the narrowest “wide” 12EE shoes that I have ever tried on. I’m only giving two stars because the sizing is so far off from a typical 12EE shoe. Too bad that they don’t fit because the shoes appear to be very well built. But quality means nothing if the sizing is wrong. I’ve initiated a return.

  • Narrow even in wide
    By C. Butler on 16 March 2018

These feel like quality shoes but I had to return them because they are unusually narrow. The description said 11W but these are much more narrow than any other shoe I own.

  • A bit snug but comfortable
    By review09 on 26 June 2019

I have been wearing Columbia hiking shoes since I had foot surgery some years ago and the pair I had needed to be replaced. These seemed very comfortable and unlike my other pair, they were offered in a wide width. Although I would say these shoes are still a bit snug even after going wide width, they aren't snug enough to be uncomfortable. They're actually quite comfortable shoes.

I would be weary if you are someone with low arches in your feet because there is some fairly present arch support that could make your feet sore, but other than that I don't really have any other complaints about this shoe. I'm happy with my choice. I would just advise to go a 1/2 size larger than you normally wear.
