  • Pleased with my purchase
By DizzyD on 30 April 2018

Some of the negative reviews gave me pause and this item sat in my cart for a long time, but due to the low price, I eventually decided to risk it--and I'm glad I did. My concerns included:

weight - This pan weighs 3 lbs 8-5/8 oz.,which is a pound heavier than a similar pan I own. I do wish it had a helper handle, because when full I need two hands to lift it. However, the single handle is large, comfortable and triple-riveted, so I managed to use both hands there. On the plus side, the weight keeps the pan from spinning or sliding during stirring.

induction - I had no trouble using this on an induction burner.

not round, so lids won't fit - Two lids from other 12-inch pans fit perfectly on this.

non-stick coating - I would've liked to know what substance was used for this, but it does seem to work well.

I bought this pan because its size and shape suit my cooking needs. I deducted one star for the lack of a helper handle and the lack of information about the coating, but overall I'm very pleased with my purchase.

  • Great pan, but a matching glass lid is hard to find (but see correction update 9-2-16 below)
By Never Enough Hours on 18 August 2016

It is a wonderfully constructed pan. Perfectly flat on the bottom for a glass top induction stove surface. However, finding a glass lid that fits is a challenge. In the section labeled "Frequently Bought Together", it referenced other people buying the Ozeri ZP-30GL Green Earth Frying Pan Lid. 12-Inch. So that is what I did. But guess what, it did not fit. That lid was a little too big. Close, but no cigar. On my pan, it looks like I need a lid 11-9/16" maximum as measured across the stainless steel lip band on the lid (where it goes down into the pan). This has been a bit frustrating. T-fal has one (packaged with a pan, which I measured in a big box store) that appears close (within 1/16"), but I just want the lid. FYI: None of these pans and lids are perfect circles. There are manufacturing production limitations for these price points. So there needs to be a little measurement tolerance in matching a lid with a pan. Regardless, I still want a glass lid.
    Anybody have any ideas ??

UPDATE 8-19-16 Regarding the lid issue, I read another person's review who commented on the pan not being perfectly round. This is true. After writing my review yesterday, I feel I should document my observations further. My pan has a 3/16" variance in diameter on the inside at the top. This is measured from the narrowest to the widest points of diameter for the pan. You can barely see it with your eye, but it is probably the reason the Ozeri ZP-30GL Green Earth Frying Pan Lid. 12-Inch I bought did not quite fit. The Ozeri lid, by the way, is excellent quality and almost perfectly round (less than 1/32" of variance, which is insignificant). So the problem appears to be the pan itself. If somebody gets one of these Cook N Home Wok pans with a smaller variance of diameter, one of the Ozeri lids may in fact fit just fine. But for the price I paid for my pan, it is not worth my time exchanging it. A replacement pan might have the same issue, anyway. I still like the pan very much, for the price. Yes, it is relatively heavy, so don't plan on flipping food around over a stove burner unless you have great wrist muscles. Yes, it heats up a little slower than other pans, but that is simply because of its mass. Yes, it is induction ready. I use mine on an induction burner (a Max Burton 6400), and it works just fine. A magnet sticks to the bottom of the pan solidly, which is the test needed for induction ready cookware. So overall, this is a great pan for the price, and it is perfect for my application.

UPDATE 9-2-16 OK, I promise, this is my last update. I really like this pan. After thinking more about it, the lid issue (the lack of proper fit thereof), began to bother me more and more. After all, I had received a pan that was a little out of round. So I called Amazon customer service about making a return. The guy was very helpful, sent me a return shipping label, they credited what I paid back to my credit card very quickly, and I re-ordered the same pan again. Thank you Amazon for great service, a person could not ask for more. The new pan arrived yesterday. It was perfect. Perfectly round, perfectly flat on the bottom, flat across the top, and the Ozeri ZP-30GL Green Earth Frying Pan Lid. 12-Inch I had previously bought, fit the pan perfectly. A test on my Max Burton 6400 induction burner was flawless. So now I have a really nice wok pan and a nice glass lid that fits perfectly. I am a happy camper !!

  • My New Favorite Pan
By Leguminator on 05 August 2016

I'm in love with this pan. I've always been somewhat of a purist when it comes to cookware and have only once owned a piece of non-stick cookware, and that's because it was a gift. I really like the cooking surface of this pan, especially the lighter color so I can see what's going on inside while cooking, and nothing sticks to it!

Even though it's a 12" pan, the proportions of the entire unit are such that you can also cook smaller amounts. I don't own a microwave, so this is great for reheating leftovers quickly for a single person, and the clean up is super easy. And did I mention that nothing sticks? Great handle designed to really jive up with the pan itself, makes flipping, tossing and stir frying a breeze. Base is solid and wide enough that you can do shallow to medium fat frying in this with no safety concerns.

The manufacturer recommendation is no metal utensils (another reason I've shied away from non stick), but I purchased some great OXO wood spoons and Rubbermaid high heat spatula/scrapers, and I'm one happy cooking camper.

  • NOT safe for glass surfaces!
    By Peter W on 17 March 2019

The wok itself is just fine, but I have to give it 1 star for false advertising about it "working" on glass surfaces. Yes, technically, it does work on glass surfaces, however, there was no warning up due to the metal patten on the bottom of the pan, it WILL scratch your surface!

  • this pan is awesome, I was looking to replace my old wok ...
    By klingon-cat on 01 November 2016

this pan is awesome, I was looking to replace my old wok type pan for a while but didn't want the old high maintenance metal ones I finally settled on this one and it is exactly what I wanted, big enough for soups, stir-frys and stews, and non stick that is the real deal, it almost repels the food, I barely have to rinse it off, not once have I had to scrub it. the only slight downside is that it is a bit heavy for me and not easily lift-able one handed even when it is empty, but I can live with that, it is also very inexpensive compared to many that I looked at but sure does not look or act like a cheap pan, if you need a good sized multi-purpose pan, buy this one you will not regret it.
