    Very narrow. I had to size up to get my foot into the boot. Can’t wear thick socks. They are very good looking. The uppers are soft and pliable. I have worn them with leggings, tights and skinny jeans.

  • Gorgeous and snug

    I almost returned these after trying them on the first time. I didn't think I'd be able to get my right foot in the boot. The left went on with effort, the right finally went on with a real struggle. I have high arches and the lack of a zipper made these a real challenge - in fact the only reason I was able to get them on the first time is because of the loops on either side. Hopefully they are sturdy and last a while.

    I was pleasantly surprised then, after putting them on, that they felt pretty good. They were a little stiff, pressed a bit on the top of my foot over the arch. I sprayed some boot stretching alcohol on them and wore them around the house. They stretched enough to keep. I wear them often and I like them. Perfect height, slim on the calves, gorgeous color. Like them a bunch. That said, I could not possible wear these with anything resembling a thick or even medium thick sock. I do wish I would have gotten a half size up. Compared to my other Frye boots, they run a tad on the small side, might be a tad narrow as well.

  • Yup, they're hard to put on

    I wear a consistent 8.5 in Frye (Melissa, Carson, Phillip, Tyler, Lynn) and that is true-to-size for me. One of the boots is, indeed, difficult to put on, but doable. I hope the pull tabs are sewn on tight! Gonna need them. Once on, they feel comfortable, and I know Fryes will become more comfortable over time. Wondering if I will be able to wear socks with them, though? My calves measure 14", and there is not a lot of extra room in the boot shaft. These boots are very cute with tights and dresses. I suspect they may be a little narrow in the shaft for wearing over jeans; haven't experimented with that, yet. The soles are very slippery--I have not experienced that with other leather-soled Frye boots. They're beautiful boots, though. Also, it looks like Frye is using a new design for its packaging.

  • Impossible to Pull On!

    Although the quality is nice, I couldn't even put them on due to the stiff heel and that you have to pull them on without any zipper or some flexibility to get them on and then fitted to your leg. I ordered them a half size larger than what I normally wear and it didn't even come close to being an accurate size. I don't have a wide foot so that wasn't an issue. I will try another style of Frye boots but this one was sent back.

  • Worth the effort to break in

    Yes they are tight around the ankle but once (if) you get them on, the footbed is true to size. My 6.5M pair fits my left foot fine but the right foot (slightly larger I guess) is a bit of a job to get on. It is doable however and I am stuffing lots of newspaper in after each wearing to stretch the ankle area. They are relatively soft leather and will probably stretch eventually with wear. Once they are on, they are a comfortable boot for hours of walking around. Definitely not knee high but I like the shorter shaft. Nice look with skinny jeans. Do not recommend these is you have big calfs.
    Update: after wearing them for a few weeks, using a stretch spray and stuffing them with newspaper they are fine. Both feet slip in perfectly and the footbed is true to size. Look great and are comfortable. Worth the trouble to break in.
