  • These boots are fake
By Matt Baltsar on 23 December 2014

I ordered these as a gift for my girlfriend. She sent me the link to the boots that these are supposed to be on the Frye web site. Being the deal finder that I am, I searched around elsewhere to find them. Since I wasn't 100% sure that these are the same boots that my girlfriend picked out, I ordered one pair from Frye and one from Amazon to compare since both sites offer free return shipping. Well they both came and while they are a very, very good knock-off, they are most certainly fake. The label was the dead give away as it is not sown in to the boot lining the way real Frye boots are. The stitching is also obviously of lesser quality and the lining just doesn't have the same feel as the real ones. Do not buy these unless you are OK with fakes.

  • Solid 3 stars. Check seller name to determine authenticity of boots.
By Merlin on 02 April 2016

Solid 3 stars. I purchased the black in size 10 regular width. My calves are 15.5" around at the largest part, I am 5'8" tall and weigh 150 pounds and have an athletic hourglass build. These boots fit my calves with room to spare. I can fit leggings and skinny jeans in these no problem. I could also get my foot in these no problem. My feet are skinny and I have a high arch. Overall no complaints there. They are very cute and the leather is nice. I love the leather lining. I wish all leather boots also had a leather lining.

The reasons why I returned was due to the bottoms being so slippery and I know I'd have to continually add non skid pads to them. I live in Minnesota and the seasons in which I would wear these would require some modifications to prevent myself from falling all the time. The other reason for return was something baggy and weird with the ankle area. With each step the boots would move in that area and rub and I don't care how cute something is, I can't stand for that. So back they go although they are cute. I will caution anyone with calves smaller than 15" on buying and successfully wearing these because I think they'd be too sloppy.

I ordered these after price stalking and endless online searching to find Frye boots. I am an avid Zappos shopper and I buy a lot from their site but I just couldn't see myself spending $400+ on a pair of Frye boots, so I went to Amazon. To the people who sadly received fake boots, that truly sucks! I will say that you need to double check the seller name as you select a size and color. My boots came from 6pm which is a Zappos sister/cousin company and they don't sell fakes (or shouldn't!) as Zappos has legit Frye boots, so I don't see why they would sell fake Fryes. Do your research. Also, if you think the price is too good to be true, order from Amazon and also order from Zappos or Frye itself to compare (Zappos and Frye have free shipping).

  • Not Authentic Frye Boots!
    By Miranda I. on 14 July 2016

I cautiously ordered these boots after reading some bad reviews of people receiving fake boots and was nervous since they weren't sold by Amazon. When I received them it was obvious they were not authentic. I have 3 other pairs of genuine Frye boots that I compared them to and the quality was obviously not the same. These had a thin plastic like leather, not the soft thick leather Fryes are made of, the rubber on the heel to keep you from slipping was a piece of hard plastic, the bottom sole did not feel like leather, and the overall quality of the stitches, thread, and craftsmanship was not the same as real Frye boots. However, the biggest giveaway was that the inside lining was just a thin piece of leather like material that was easily pulled away for the outside material of the boot. None of my real Fryes had a lining like that. They are all lined with the same thick, real leather that has a noticeable grain and cannot be pulled away from the outside of the boot with your fingers. Although they did come in a Frye box, the box was different and the packaging was different when compared to two of the other pairs of Frye boots I had recently ordered. Both of those boots came in the same kind of box and with the same packaging inside. I could see how others could be easily tricked into thinking these are real Frye boots but when compared with genuine Frye boots it is obvious these are not real. My husband took one look at them and said its obvious they are fakes, they look like something you'd get for $20 at the grocery store! I took some pictures for comparison. One photo shows the inside lining of the boot compared to a real Frye boot, a picture of the plastic on the heel and bad craftsmanship, and I took a picture of the boxes. Notice the different styles of the boxes and the difference in the size of the lettering- the box from a real pair is on the right.

  • Great boots!!
By CRM on 29 October 2017

I love these boots! As always I’m never disappointed with Frye. I was skeptical to order them as I have thin legs and calves. I wasn’t sure if a pair of pull up boots would work for me. However the circumference isn’t so big that it makes them look too big or baggy. At the same time, I purchased these boots because I wanted a comfortable and casual fitting boot that had a looser feel. These offer just that! Love the color and style. Pairs nicely with jeans, leggings or a dress. I gave 4/5 stars because they were tough to get on. However once I changed to trouser socks they were easier to manage. Also noticed when I take them off I have to navigate my foot sort of sideways. I think the thick leather interior is what makes getting them off and on so challenging. Looking forward to wearing these for many years to come.

  • Fake.
By KPettigrew on 04 January 2017

These are fake. And a very cheap looking fake at that. I don't think they are even real leather. Contacting Amazon.
