  • Recommended Even Though They Were Returned
By Ryan Lee on 21 December 2017

I purchased these along with a pair of Allen Edmonds Higgins Mill boots, and I ultimately returned these in favor of the AE’s. With this being said, I still recommend these after trying several boot offerings from Ecco, Pikolinos, Clark’s, and others. In fact, these were more comfortable than the AE’s out of the box, and I was very close to keeping these instead since I had purchased them at a discount. That speaks volumes about the quality and comfort of the Oscar 11’s, and there were minor things that swayed me in other direction.

The items that swayed my decision:

Color: These are a very dark, dull brown versus the rich, reddish brown of the AE Chromexcel leather

Lining: These have a gray, wool-like lining versus the full leather lining of AE’s. While not bad, the quality isn’t on the same level.

Insole: These have a removable foam insole that is comfortable out of the box; however, the AE’s became slightly more comfortable after limited wear, especially in the arch area. They simply fit my feet better.

Leather Quality: Both have soft leather that requires minimal break-in, but the the particular copy of the Oscar 11’s I received showed evidence of dryness in areas. While this would have likely been addressed with leather conditioner, I didn’t have that luxury in a trial phase. In contrast, the AE leather was flawless, and over time, I expect the Chromexcel leather to age better.

Items that I preferred in the Oscar 11’s:

    1. The cut of the leather around the ankle was more comfortable. This made the decision to return these very difficult as you really didn’t notice the upper while wearing.

    2. Quick/simple lace-up versus a higher top with speed lace hooks. The ability to effectively grab these and go was a definite plus.

    3. Laces threaded through the tongue. This simple feature is a huge plus over the AE’s where the suede tongue tends to drift.

    4. Soles - The use of a rubber Dainite sole on the AE’s isn’t my favorite since they aren’t non-slip. I actually preferred the material and overall pattern on the Oscar 11’s. The subtle rugged look gives them a nice profile versus other chukkas that have thinner soles.

Overall, these are a great value at their price point, and I still recommend them to anyone looking for chukkas under $200.

  • Quality-Top Notch Leather Chukka Boot
By James Lofton on 07 April 2017

You have to be a very finicky and picky individual to give these shoes a bad rating. The craftsmanship and superior leather makes this Chukka Boot on the level of Allen Edmonds. Yes, I must admit the Moro color picture in the description is slightly misleading because there more of a dark brown color.. However the durable bottom sole and exceptional styling made me overlook that mishap. I usually wear a normal size 9 but the EU 42 fit as expected but I understand if some say it's slightly large. I add insoles and wear thick socks anyway with my Chukkas because I do a lot of walking working downtown Chicago. I've had them for over a month now and they still look brand new with NO manufacturer defects like one reviewer stated. A little pricey but well worth it if you like to be flattered by the ladies with compliments.

  • and they were very comfortable and looked to be very well made
By Christopher clarke on 06 August 2018

I tried the Oscar 11 shoes on at a shoe store, and they were very comfortable and looked to be very well made, with flexible leather outer and soft leather lineing, but they only had black, and I wanted brown. Enter Amazon, where you can buy anything!
I ordered a pair in brown and received them in due course, and they looked and felt great, but had a wooly looking fabric lineing, no good for California wear. I usually wear a US size 13, and the Euro 46 fit fine. Probably is a great shoe, but the fabric lining was a deal breaker for me.

  • Narrower than expected but decent boots.
By The Doctor on 01 October 2016

I have about six pairs of Seibel shoes and liked the look of these boots. Pair I received said extra wide but were actually more narrow than wide. As a reference the Seibel Walt shoes I find to be fairly wide even though they are not described as such but these boots were much narrower than the Walt so we're uncomfortable for me. Maybe the last of this boot is slightly narrower in the toe. Nice leather and wife liked them too. Slightly furry lining would be good in colder weather.

  • Comfortable, great for wide feet, excellent quality, Great design. Fit somewhat large.
By Thomas Behunin on 06 February 2016

I was willing to sacrifice a small amount of comfort for these shoes because of the styling, as these are one of my favorite Chukka boot designs, but the comfort is amazing and much better than expected. Not to mention the superb quality. I was pleasantly surprised that these provide a wider toe box! Something a lot of shoe designers are lacking, especially for athletic feet. I struggle a lot with shoes because I have wide feet and medium to low arches. These fit perfect with no pressure spots. They do fit slightly large. I ordered a 45/11-11.5 because I generally wear a 11-11.5 in US, but I would probably order a 44 next time or a 10.5, but they still fit reasonably well. Considering the great price I got these for, I am very happy. Easy 5 stars.
