  • Great boots with one deal-breaker flaw
By Diana on 05 March 2019

My kids have had various Kamik boots over the years and in general I'm a big fan of the brand. This time I went mostly for brand recognition and reviews when picking out these boots, and sadly, have come to regret it. The boots are still very well built, well insulated, and keep my kids' feet warm. They've never leaked. I love that there's waterproof fabric going all around even when you open the boot, the front flap/tongue is still attached to the main body of the boot with the waterproof fabric, so water/snow can't get in. However, the way the boots close is very impractical. The only thing keeping the boot closed is a small velcro patch on the end of the elastic strap that goes around the front. Anything above the strap is still kinda flapping out not fully closed, because there's nothing keeping it closed. There's too much room up there for snow to get in. My daughter's snow pants this year don't have a strong elastic to go over the boot (they do have an elastic, but it's not very tight), which, in combination with these boots' weak closing, has resulted in the snow pants riding up above the boot, and the boot filling up with snow. Also, from the friction of the boots rubbing against things as the kid rolls around in the snow, the velcro gets pulled off easily, and the boot slips out and fills with snow. Then the velcro patches get caked with snow and stop working altogether. It's incredibly frustrating and my daughter comes back from sledding with her feet wet and frozen from having stepped in the snow in her socks way too many times when the boots fell off! This will be a lesson learned for me and I'll stay away from boots that don't have a zipper or laces. This wimpy velcro strap is a joke.

  • Solid boots, not waterproof
    By Jen H on 12 March 2019

These are great snow boots - nice and warm and easy for my 4 year old to put on all by himself. The only drawback is that the fabric upper is not waterproof, or even really water resistant, and the rubber bottom isn't very tall. So for when we have a fresh snowfall, I'm more than happy to put these on my kids. Their feet stay warm and dry and they can play for hours. The drawbacks only show up when the snow starts melting, or if we have that rainy, slushy wet snow like tends to happen in the spring. My oldest decided to jump in slush while playing at school, when he got home, his feet were sopping wet. The same thing happened after playing in an early spring snowfall where the bottom couple of inches were really wet slush rather than snow. This wouldn't be a big deal if the boots dried quickly, but without a removable liner, you have to throw the entire boot in the dryer and hope. It's taken several hours in the dryer on low to get them mostly dry, and even then, the toes stay damp for a while. I love these boots, but I wish the stitching and uppers were waterproof.

  • Decent boots but could be better
    By Jezebel320 on 06 January 2019

These seem to be pretty decent boots. My daughter is in pre-K and needed boots for winter recess. The velcro strap across the front makes it easy for littles to out on their own boots.

I am a little disappointed in the quality tho. After about two days of very minimal wear from a 4 yr old a seam started coming unsewn. I thought it was a fluke and I had gotten a defective pair but my neighbor had purchased the same boots for her daughter and they did the same thing. So be warned

  • Super lightweight and easy to put on.
By Amazon Customer on 14 November 2018

Love these. In my opinion they run a half size small. I wish I ordered up a size just to get more than one season, but these are my go-to snow boots now for kids.

  • Perfect for Harsh Winters
By Amazon Customer on 28 March 2018

Snow boots always run larger than athletic shoes, and these will run about 1 size bigger than what your LO usually wears. But throw on some thick socks and let them grow into these. We have spent entire afternoons playing in Wisconsin snow (6"+) and my toddler's feet were warm and dry when we got back in the house.

My 7 year old son had this brand of boot as a toddler as well and quality for the price cannot be beat.
