  • To buy or not to buy...can I do without them?
By Fiddlesticks! on 11 March 2018

I've tried the sink both with and without these sink racks. I've used a plastic tub in the sink and a plastic mat. I think I'd rather have these in the sink for several reasons. One, when I rest the plastic tub down in the sink without these racks, food and water get trapped under and behind the tub. With these, the water can clean under and around the tub, then allow the sink to dry between uses. Two, I use enameled cast iron pots a LOT. They are able to rest on these racks without me worrying about getting hard things (tiny piece of bone, grit, etc) getting trapped under the pot and scratching the sink and the pot. Three, my hubby rested a tin can holding grease on the sink overnight...rust??? Not! One last thing, I can lay my hot pan or pot on these with no worries about thermal shock to the cold sink. I got them at Amazon Warehouse Deals for less so, it's worth it.

Edit: It's been a year now. I LOVE these racks! My drain is never closed up with too many things resting in the sink. These racks always allow water to drain. My garden is beginning to come in. I can rinse and drain all of my veggies on these racks. They fit in the top rack of the dishwasher. I was just thinking the other day that I don't know what I'd do without them! I'm so glad I got them!

Edit: Just got through canning season. I simply don't know how I canned before without my large sink and racks! As I was working tonight, I kept thinking this was one of the best decisions we made on our new kitchen.

  • FITS RIGHT IF YOU DON'T INSTALL IT BACKWARDS LIKE EVERYONE (SEE MY PICS) Great price too!
By W.A. Preston III on 12 March 2019

I love this unit, I read so many bad reviews that it didn't fit right. Well the sink is sloped to allow water to move towards the drain. If you install the large piece backwards like I didn't when I was cleaning it I saw what everyone was doing wrong. Simply rotate the large rack 180 degrees, the legs are longer to compensate for the slope in the sink.

In addition, I love the two pieces, it allows you to remove one at a time to get under a rack and slide dishes to the other side. I've had a one piece before and didn't like having to remove this huge monster each time. With two, you can get where you need to clean if its just to remove or sweep debris, food etc. for a specific area.

I did post a few pics of the rack installed incorrectly, so you can see the difference, but it's the same racks and most pics are showing it installed correctly. Hope this clears up the confusion, as so many reviews almost caused me to pass on the purchase. The pic with a small portion of the coffee cup showing shows the large rack installed incorrectly (180 degrees to be exact) and at different heights. The other pic with the coffee cup shows it installed correctly and the heights are the same.

  • Great Protection for Expensive Kohler Sink
By So. Cal. RVer on 02 December 2017

I was reluctant to use one of these wire racks in my sink because I thought it would be just another thing to get in the way and to clean. But after reading that a plastic mat I was using on the bottom of the sink could actually discolor/damage the sink's finish, I decided to give this a try. It's made by Kohler specifically for my farmhouse sink, doesn't require much maintenance, and gives me a "world" of piece of mind that my sink won't inadvertently get damaged. Also, I like that I can lay fruits and veggies on it for cleaning/draining. Now I wouldn't be without it.

  • Overpriced steel rack that I absolutely love and use everyday.
By SJBayArea on 08 August 2016

I vacillated as to whether this expensive grid was really necessary, but I love it. It protects the sink from damage and plates and glasses from breaking in the sink. It elevates the sponge for airflow and I can easily rinse and drain potted plants on it as well as leafy vegetables and fruits. I often wash items like pots and just let them drain on the rack. Now I want to get one for the small side too. I still think they are overpriced for a basic steel grid, but Kohler knows you have to have one that fits into that exact sink...so they charge you a ridiculous amount. Nonetheless, buy it anyway because you won't regret this sturdy rack. By the way, I love the sink it fits into as well!

  • Its a very sturdy rack and is easy to keep clean
    By Giantsfan510 on 16 April 2017

We have had this rack in our Whitehaven sink since we installed it. It really helps to preserve the finish of the sink. Its a very sturdy rack and is easy to keep clean. I have no idea why this is not included with the sink. You spend that much on a sink and still have to buy this separately? Pretty dumb. Should be included. Regardless, if you buy a Kohler Whitehaven sink, get one of there. Youll love it!
