  • Works well with the Honda Fit Sport
By Robert Hicks on 18 March 2013

I've had other Thule chains before but this one without a doubt is the easiest to get on and off. I've only used it a couple of times but so far it's been great. There is a BIG WARNING I must give about this product. If you put the chains on and engage the lock (step down on the lever) and do not drive so that the chains lock into place there will be a huge amount of tension built up in the bar. If you release the chains with this tension, the plastic Thule handle that you stepped on to lock the chains in place will shoot up that center bar like a projectile. If your fingers are in the way, YOU WILL GET HURT! I learned this the hard way. The lesson.. even when learning how to put the chains on if you step down on the level pull the car forward and let the chains engage all the way. If you do that, the chains will release without the handle snapping back up the bar track.

  • If you do it exactly like the video shows you to
By Amazon Customer on 30 January 2017

Okay, it's finally time for my review. First off I must say that I am a Grandma of two boys. We just moved from the beach to the mountains. Before purchasing these chains, I was scared to death to drive in the snow. We live on a very steep street and once the ice set in...it was a nightmare. There was no way, no how that I was making it up that hill. I searched and searched for chains that I could do myself. I decided to bite the bullet and pay the big bucks. After watching several YouTube videos (a must) I felt I could do it. WOW...it really is as simple as they say. We had 4 feet of snow and ice covered the hwy's. These chains gave me the confidence that I needed to drive with my precious cargo. Now it's time to take them off. Again after watching several videos (a must) my eldest Grandson (12) and I went for it. I must say, they were a little harder to get off then put on. If you do it exactly like the video shows you to...it's a piece of cake. I read reviews where people said that they came off while they were driving and some where they said, they were hard to get off. I say it's because they weren't installed correctly. If a Grandma can do it right...so can you. I am so please with these chains and they are well worth the money. 👵🏻👨👶🏼

  • Good tires, require a bit of learning curve to install and take off.
By Anna Kosinska on 20 November 2017

I am a rather small female and these were initially a bit intimidating, so I asked a friend to help me put them on the wheels. Once I learned how to do it, things got much easier. It does require come strength and getting down on your knees unless you ask someone for help/ It takes about 5-10 minutes to put them both on. Same time to take them off, it requires you to position the car in a certain way, so that you can remove the chains. I have a Honda Prelude, front wheel drive, I am spending two winters in a hilly terrain. Without the chains, the car (I have winter tires) drives well on the snow up and down the hill but does not make it up the icy hill. The snow tires make all the difference. It feels like driving a 4x4.
One thing to consider, when driving in a town, you will encounter clear road stretches, without snow or ice. The car drives well but the ride is noisy (imagine driving on gravel). You cannot go over 30 mph, however, if the weather is so bad you need snow chains... you should not be driving fast anyway. I have slid down icy hilly roads in SUV before, so even one ride when the chains help you drive makes them a good purchase.

Easiest chains to put on hands down! A little expensive but definitely worth it. Used it the first time this past weekend and I got it on in about a minute each side. People in my vehicle and people in traffic was shocked to see how quick it was to put on. No need to turn the tires or making adjustments to get it in place like most chains. The self centering and tightening was the only thing I worried about but after we got to the ski resort, I took a look and it was locked in tight. Taking it off took about 5-10 mins because you have to make sure your wheels are lined up right and the release mechanism was a little hard to loosen for the slack needed to take them off. If you're looking for the easiest chains to put on in a snow storm, look no further these are the ones for sure. If everyone had these chains, those guys standing on the side of the road with a sign "Chains on $30" will be out of a job for sure. If you are hesitant because of the price, trust me after the first time you put them on, you'll think why you didn't get them sooner.
