  • Good value for low cost fatbike tire, 26x4.0 measures 3.8" wide on 80mm rim
By animal on 15 April 2019

This is far and away the lowest cost fatbike tire I've seen with decent tread. It only measures 8" from bead-to-bead which is significantly narrower than other fat bike tires labelled 26x4.0. Actual width installed on an 80mm rim with 20psi is 3.8" as shown in the pic with calipers. Compared to other 26x4.0 tires, the tread is a little narrower, but it has a taller profile (4th pic is side by side comparison with another low cost 26x4.0 with the Kujo on the right, both mounted to identical rims).

The tire wall has a printed on label that says 60tpi. I'm not sure that's not just printed on as you can clearly see the casing is more consistent with the product description of 22 tpi. I've seen this tread pattern on other tires and it seems to work decently. Decent traction from the tread pattern, mounts, and rolls ok so what more could you ask for in a low cost tire. The rubber appears to be firm so it will likely last awhile. I was a bit disappointed in the tire being slightly undersized (hopefully passing inspection at fatbike races that require a 3.8" minimum tire!) - but overall I'm pretty happy with the tire for the price. At least it has plentiful clearance on my frame :).

I debated how many stars to give this product as it's clearly not in the same category as tires costing 5x as much, but it's a good value for the money. I could have gone with 3 stars relative to expensive tires, but that's not what it was advertised as. If it was advertised as a 26x3.8 cheap tire, I couldn't argue with anyone giving it 5 stars.

  • Great tire for the price!
By John Hood on 19 October 2018

The fat mama had the same tread design as the panaracer FatBNimble. I only ride hard pack dirt and they did great. Hope they last longer than the Panaracer.

  • Tubes recommended. Was able to get tubeless seal.
By BWR on 24 August 2019

It took awhile to get a tubeless seal but glad I did not give up. Rode on the local Kalispell trails and snagged some PRs. (11 miles, 2,000’ climb) Glad to have an inexpensive tire option.

To get it to work I sanded ridges on the bead and used full 100 cc of Stans sealant. Cusing helped too. ;-)

  • only get these if you are an offroad
By Likes to browse on 18 April 2019

these tires really like to eat up the tread on pavement if you are the get up to speed as fast as possible type of rider, much better suited for off road dirt rider and the easy going rider on pavement.

  • Junk!
By Lesley Tuton on 30 July 2019

The sidewall of this tire split after about 20 miles of riding on roads and cinder paths. I never hit any trails and it was only inflated 10psi less than the maximum. Don’t waste your money!
