  • Its a good start for the money.
By Reading Mama on 09 April 2016

I bought this rack to install on a 20 year old Huffy Mountain bike, so it did not have the cantilever brakes that have mounting spots on the front fork. So I knew I was in for some engineering changes to use the rack. The manufacturer of the rack would improve the product and increase their sales if they included some way to attach the rack if you do not have the brake mounting spots. The rack is light weight, and the bracket that mounts the rack to the center postion on the fork is very light weight, so there is not much you are going to be able to put on this rack. I used 1 inch conduit clamps on each side of the 1 inch fork bars. I bent the rack appart in this area to match the width needed for the forks. Then drilled through the rivet on each side of the bottom mounting bracket and removed the angular mounting tabs. I put a bolt through the rivet hole I drilled out and passed the bolt through the additional conduit clamps I bought that were tightened around the fork bar. The rack was reasonable enough in price that I had room to consider the modifications. It had a strange assortment of bolts, so I had to use some of my own. The brackets could use to be thicker steel and what it could use is a mount that fastens around the top of the headset nut and supports the rack from the top, then I could see it holding some decent weight and with better fork mounts to make it rigid.

  • Super easy mount using the brake bosses
    By Jeff B on 08 January 2015

I have 2 of these. One is under a different name but I am 99% sure it is the exact same pruduct. Paid about the same and everything I have to say applies to both.....

For under $20, I have nothing to complain about. It holds a front basket much more securely and solidly than the typical handlebar mount with the stays going down to the axle or fender mounts that Wald baskets typically use. Super easy mount using the brake bosses.

However, this is NOT the same as having a solid front rack that you see on real touring bikes. I would only use it for light loads. And don't expect impeccable build quality. Both of mine are welded a little crooked in one way or another.

  • Impressive. Glad I got it.
    By M.Howard on 05 January 2014

I almost gave up on the install.. Almost. I could not figure out how to make it fit and had come to the conclusion that it would not fit my older bike at all. Then I broke the MAN RULE and actually read the instructions and wow, surprise, surprise, it fit perfectly!

I would have gladly given in 5 stars, except for 2 things. It was missing 1 screw that I actually needed (it comes with a lot of different screws and hardware for various applications and thread sizes). Also, it would be nice if it were just a slight bit longer.. Just a fraction of an inch would be sufficient, but a whole inch would be great. It is a tiny platform for carrying anything. It is ideal for some small panniers, but to attach a basket or bag, it's kinda tiny.

  • Ya for $11.00
    By Jeffrey K on 25 July 2019

Not sure why the bad reviews. OF course if you put to much weight it is going to bend. Come on peeps it's meant for some small things but I have had no problems with it on 40 pounds

  • tl;dr don't buy if you need to carry anything remotely heavy
By Amazon Customer on 30 January 2018

Works OK for small loads, but I've had to replace the rivets that attach the posts to the canti mounts because both have broken after use. Almost ate it the other day when the rivet I hadn't yet replaced broke with a ~8 pound load in the basket I've mounted to the rack.

tl;dr don't buy if you need to carry anything remotely heavy
