Love this. Very high end looking and strong magnet.

  • The Best
By Pierce on 07 December 2018

I love my kitchen knives and I have a few. In the past, I've used blocks, magnetic strips, and other magnetic stands. I won't even touch on my two 14" K Sabatier.
Pictured l-r are the cleaver I bought in China; a Japanese knife given to me by Japanese business associates; a 7" K Sabatier carbon steel chef knife, and my go-to, a 9" carbon steel K Sabatier.
This last knife has been the biggest problem. It is too long for most magnetic stands. But this Mercer magnetic stand is high enough to accommodate the 9" with ease.
Some stands (and strips) have weak magnets. Not this stand. It holds the knives firmly in place..
It is elevated, and the base is heavy enough for great balance. One caveat, the magnet is strong enough, some of your knives may become slightly magnetized, as did my 9". It does not interfere with my cooking. Highly recommended.

  • Acacia wood magnetic knife stand
By eric on 03 December 2018

Very modern and basic looking knife stand. It has a nice heavy stainless steel base and the wood is a nice thick acacia. The overall quality of it is very nice and it would definitely enhance a plain knife set. I just happened to have a 5 piece mercer knife set that came in a glass stand, and I moved them over to this one. The knives are NOT INCLUDED. I just want to be clear about that.

The magnets are very strong and grab the knifes immediately and stick them to the board. It works very well and it looks great. I was worried the knifes would scratch the wood but it doesn't seem to cause any damage at all. I am being somewhat careful when putting the knives on the board though. Another thing is sometimes the knives are a little sideways when you first attach them, and I always straighten them out because it bothers me, but that's not a big deal at all.

One small issue I had and I attached a photo. The top left side was a little worn down somehow. It's not super noticeable from a distance but it wasn't fun to open the package and see damage right out of the box, and there was absolutely no damage to the product box or the brown box it came in so it seems like a quality control issue.

Overall, it's a nice knife board. I like the modern design and how easy it is to just grab the knife you need. I definitely recommend this for anyone who has a 5 piece knife set that doesn't have a block or knife storage, it's a nice way to display them in your kitchen. The board is pretty heavy and it won't fall over on it's own. it would take a lot of force to knock it over. Obviously if you have kids, you need to keep them away from this thing because a young child could easily grab the handle and pull a knife off the board since it's just held on with a magnet.

  • Gorgeous looking, excellent magnetism. Works great, looks great and small footprint
    By 🌈 KT on 28 January 2019

Totally happy with this. Extremely easy to use, great looking. It's pretty low key, so doesn't pop out, but then it's so unusual it does pop out, if that makes sense. Either way, it's gorgeous and works great.

This isn't our first magnetic knife stand. Our older one is round, like a turntable. We do like it, but we like this flat one better. It ends up taking less counter space, since you don't need room to spin it to get to a knife.

The magnetism is extremely strong, very reliable. There's a bit of a trick to using it with 1 hand, so you don't have to hold or fight with the magnets, and doesn't require extra height to slide the knife off...

Just hold the knife handle and give a bit of turn to it so that only the spine is still in contact with the wood. That reduces the surface area affected by the magnets and lets you remove it quickly. For whatever reason, trying to pull it straight off is much harder than removing only some of it.

Ours was very sturdy and level. Assembly is just a matter of putting in a set screw to connect base and block. It comes with the needed tool. I keep that on the bottom of the board.

If you like this idea for your knives, I feel like this is a very good option to consider.

  • heavy duty knife holder
By Becky (in NOLA) on 04 December 2018

This knife stand is made from Acacia wood and is very attractive. The base is very heavy, no tipping here! On the bottom of the base are strips to protect the counter top. The base attached very easily, there is a pin that lines up with the washer and the bottom, and the little wrench thing is included for the screw.

The magnet is very strong, it grabs onto the knives and holds them firmly. I even have the mercer vegetable knife, which looks like a clever on it, with no problem. It can easily hold 5 large knives and it has room for all five with no crowding. Or 3 full size cleavers which can't fit in regular knife blocks.
