  • Pretty good shower, but flimsy trim
By iLLuSiOn on 13 February 2014

I remodelled my bathroom, and Grohe came as a highly recommended brand by my contractor for replacing my shower head and trim. Based on his recommendation, I shopped around and bought this, along with the 35015000 rough-in.

The shower is excellent quality - heavy, metal-made stuff - not the cheap plasticy stuff you get with other brands, particularly Delta and Moen. I am definitely impressed with the water flow and different configuration supported by this shower.

The trim looks a bit flimsy though - it feels like something that can be somewhat easily broken. The quality of the trim is no different from other brands like Moen, Pfister, or Delta, in my opinion.

  • Disappointed in water flow
By Reviews from me on 27 July 2018

Very unhappy with water flow. If you have it on "jet" setting - it's a really hard spray. But on "normal" shower setting, it feels REALLY (really!) weak. Not happy at all - expected a lot more from a Grohe purchase.

looks nice. works easily. a little disappointed in the plastic feel; but everyone seems to be going to plastic... for the life time finish, i think

  • Good value, great quality
By Enlighten Me on 28 December 2016

I purchased this to install in the smaller second bathroom as part of a remodel. I actually purchased the one that also comes with the tub filler spout. The valve cover is heavy faucet with mostly metal pieces with a near flawless finish. The shower arm is also heavy and durable, but I did not install this. I opted to purchase a separate much longer shower arm. The shower head is lighter, mostly plastic, but it's still nice. The shower head has the easy clean spray holes. I enjoy the O2 spray (the droplets are mixed with air to make them heavier feeling) and massage spray settings. The rain setting and jet setting are just okay, but someone else might like those settings - that's why it's nice to have the multiple setting options. The spray head is much fuller than a standard one, but not as big as the rainfall ones. If you get an longer shower arm, you can get a mini rain can set up. This is what I did, and it's fabulous. In comparing to the similar/mid-priced delta and moen faucets, the Grohe is much sturdier, nicer finished, and nice looking design IMO.

Installation was pretty straight forward. Getting the screws on the cover plate for the valve was a bit tricky. I recommend using teflon tape on all of the pieces that screw together. The valve is a single handle pressure valve, so the volume works as simply on/off with the handle mostly just setting the temperature.

The finish is a nice brushed nickel, perhaps a slightly cooler (vs. warmer) tone of nickel with less green/gold undertones. It does leave light water spots, but they are much less noticeable than other brands I have.

Overall, I consider the faucet a very good value and worth considering. I will definitely be considering Grohe for my next project. I realize plumbers tend to recommend Delta or Moen, because the replacement parts are readily available at most hardware stores. After having to replace parts and pieces of both of those brands far before they should need replacing and dealing with what I consider an inferior product when compared to a similarly priced Grohe item, I am willing to take my chances with another brand where I will need to special order the parts if needed. But even the Moen parts that I had to replace were special order and very overpriced.
