  • Shocked by the poor quality.
    By Ron K. on 10 April 2016

I bought these king sheets for $60 in September 2013 to replace a pair of low priced Target sheets that I had been sleeping on for nearly 20 years that were really showing their age, bottom sheets getting thin but still usable. Same bed with a 2" thick memory foam pad on top. I did a lot of online research and decided that "100% Pima Cotton" would be the best way to go, my long lasting Target sheets were 100% cotton, but the manufactures label showing the brand name had worn out after hundreds of washings. When I first took these sheets out of the package, the chemical smell was the first thing I noticed, but figured it would wash out anyway and it did. Second thing I felt was how thin they were, even compared to the worn out sheets I'd been sleeping on for so long. But being 100% Pima Cotton, thought these have to be good! They weren't. l followed the manufacturers washing and drying instructions exactly and washing top and bottom sheet seperately just to be safe. These Pointehaven sheets felt pretty good for the first few months, very soft. But within 6 or 7 months and washing about once a month (I live alone) the bottom sheet developed a long tear right down the center along my 6' 200lb full pajama'd body! Tried stitching it up a few times but kept getting worse, the tear got over 4' long. Then another tear, and another tear like the sheet was turning into tissue paper. Finally went back to using my old sheets. These sheets were fairly comfortable while they lasted. If you like paper thin sheets that you don't mind replacing every six months, these might be okay, but definitely not for me! I understand that the overall quality of new sheets has degraded greatly over the years, maybe having to spend a few hunderd dollars on a king set to match 20 year old Target sheets may be the only way to go unfortunately. If hind sight were 20/20, I would have bought a dozen of those cheap Target sheets to last my life time! I'm still searching.

  • Switch the E's for an i - these are SHEET
By RonSchon on 04 July 2014

I search Amazon high and low trying to find a sturdy bedding set with a high thread count. I'm convinced it can't be done. Hundreds of listings of Egyptian cotton 1500TC sheets for $25... Really? I don't think so. I finally found this set of 400TC that was priced at $62. This was the best shot I could find. I wanted 600TC, but would give this a try.

They arrived same day (as ordered) and I quickly unpackaged and was thinking they felt pretty thin. I threw them in the wash/dry and they came out feeling ever so soft - like 5 year old thread-bare sheets.

I don't think these will last through the summer.

Major disappointment and this is the last time I will buy bedding on Amazon. It is full of scam companies and products.

  • Buyer beware
By Bananakeet on 11 January 2015

Out the package these sheets were surprisingly thin and felt different. The feel reminded me of cotton and linen (scratchy). I have five other pair of 100% cotton 400 thread count sheets and knew right away something was "off" about these. Sure there are variations in quality, feel, thickness among manufacturers but this is the first time I've returned sheets. I could not image sleeping on something so scratchy. Pima cotton this is not, 400 thread count, unlikely.

  • Extremely disappointed
    By NanaB56 on 21 May 2011

In the past I have relied upon previous purchaser reviews to assist in my decision to buy an item, and I carefully read every review for this set of 400 thread count white twin XL sheets. I usually give little weight to laundering irregularities and "feel" of textiles, because that is very subjective - except shrinkage, of course. So I went ahead with this purchase thinking I would at the very least be getting sheets in a substantial enough fabric - 400 thread count, white is white, so no problem there (I thought), and I am not averse to trimming a few loose threads. Price was decent, because XL twin sheets that are not "dorm-like" are impossible to buy in my small town.

When I opened the package I was immediately struck by the difference in color tone of the 3 pieces. The pillowcase was almost pinkish - and felt very thin to me, like a well-used vintage hankie. So I felt the flat sheet, and thought, all right - this is better. Firmly woven, not see-through, nicely finished. Soft white color, but different than the pillowcase. The fitted sheet was the same soft white, but the fabric was entirely different from the flat sheet - thin like the pillowcase. It's as if someone went through the bargain bin and picked out a pillowcase, flat sheet, and bottom sheet from different piles, then packaged them together as a "set". This is not what I expect when I buy a set of sheets, from anywhere, at any price.

Only because I needed these sheets for a guest the next day did I put them in the wash, front load, delicate cycle, warm water, no bleach, average fabric softener, no other items in the load. (I wash a lot of sheets - I own a bed and breakfast - so I know what I'm doing!). Dried on low. Result: sheets came out quite wrinkled, but expected that because they are cotton. The fabric itself is what I would describe as "micro-crinkled" - not smooth feeling like sheets should be. I iron all of our pillowcases for the guest beds, so I ironed this one, also. It's so thin! If this pillowcase and fitted sheet are 400 thread count, I'd like to talk to the person counting the threads. The flat sheet feels like it could be 400 thread count by the weight of the fabric, but the side hems rolled over twice upon themselves during drying. Only way to fix this is to iron them flat. Too high maintenance. Not one of my other sets of sheets (I have twelve sets from other sources, from 400 to 800 thread count, all cotton) has had a problem with rolling hems. I have been a seamstress for over 40 years, and have handled lots of fabrics. The pillowcase and fitted sheet are one weave (looks like twill) and the flat sheet appears to be more like a percale, but not as crisp. These sheets are not even of the same type of fabric - they just do not match at all! And everyone knows that the bottom sheet wears out first. I'd give this flimsy one 3 months. Not happy.

Even if I had paid only $30 for this set of sheets, I would still feel like I had gotten an inferior set of sheets. As it is, I feel cheated for paying almost $60. I have 800 thread count herringbone weave queen sheets that cost only $60 - and after a year of heavy use (very frequent washing, often with bleach) they still look beautiful. I do not recommend the Pointehaven 400 TC Deep pocket 100 percent Pima Cotton sheets at all if you're particular about your bed linens. These do not live up to even my least expectations. I wish I could return them, but probably can't since they've been washed. Live and learn.

  • TO RIP OR NOT TO RIP
By The Dirt Digger on 22 May 2016

To start off the color is just lovely, on my monitor it's just like Amazons picture. One major problem, after the second wash I was pulling the fitted sheet around the corner of the bed & i hear a very distinct sound of RIPPING MATERIAL the whole side of the fitted sheet ripped.I have purchased POINT HAVEN SHEETS B4, & never had this happen. Other than a MAJOR RIP, these sheets are supper soft I don't know what happened, but I returned the set & tried again... no problems since. I just think I got a set of bum sheets.
