  • Propet shrinking shoes.
    By Kenneth J. on 22 November 2016

Over the years these same shoes have been getting smaller . They are now ridiculously small. I take a 13 eee. Have for many years, and I have been buying propet for many years. At first they were a true 13 eee. now I am getting 13 eeeee and having to have them stretched. I have pictures of the last order plus this one. The identical shoe is a wee bit smaller, the other pair which I bought (different Style) to see if there is an improvement in sizes, sadly it was so ridiculous as to be 1/2 inch narrower as well a almost 3/8's of an inch longer. I caution those to try them on carpet and if they work congratulations.

  • Disappointed
    By Phil A. on 24 August 2018

This was my first pair of non-New Balance diabetic shoes. I chose them because they were a less expensive alternative to the NB's. Big mistake. After 3 months, the soles are delaminating and had to be repaired with superglue. My feet supinate and with Mew Balance's Roll Bar it minimizes the uneven heel wear. The New Balance products last me about a year. The Propets have something the company calls a "heel counter", which I assume serves the same purpose as the Roll Bar, but the Propets are already showing significant heel wear after just 3 months. The 5E width is insufficient. I read reviews saying Propet's 5E size is actually bigger than New Balance's 6E. That has not been my experience. These shoes fit tight and do not have sufficient depth for custom made orthotic insoles. I wish I had saved a few more dollars and gotten the New Balance shoes. Live and learn.

  • Better than expected
By Slider on 25 October 2011

I read the reviews on this product and decided to go for a first time online shoe buy. For the record- I have very wide feet, a high instep, and some gnarly toes that make getting the right fit extra tough. Brick and mortar sellers have so few wide/deep walking shoes that just finding a pair to try on can become a time consuming and costly effort and I always wind up settling for a pair with less width than I really need, ouch!

The supplier shipped them out the same day and they arrived on time with only a short delay with UPS in Illinois. The shoes were sized as ordered and in pristine condition. Most important though was the fit. Wow! The width was accurate on the money. Not like some shoes where skimping on material makes fit a dice roll. The toe box is wide and deep so there's plenty of wiggle room for not so perfectly shaped toes, and the depth was no problem at all for my high instep. The leather top seems durable as do the metal "D" rings that the laces go through. Laces were the round heavy kind which stand up well to tugging on. The tongue is padded which in some shoes creates a crowding problem but not on these.

The insole was the only let down. It's pretty much a flat foam with no amount of support under the arch or heel. That was no big deal since I purchased an aftermarket set specially for wide shoes that had an arch support and gel under the heel. And low and behold the aftermarket supports and my foot still fit into the shoe with heavy socks added in. This is a first for me. Because of my high instep this was never possible before. One or the other would always have to go, foot or insole. Guess which one won out.

There was minimal break in time with no chaffing or rubbing. They felt good from the start and the already soft body leather softened even a bit more after a couple of days. Treads on the soles seem to work fine on wet surfaces and stability is good.

These shoes worked out better than I expected. The price was right. The quality appears to be there and the fit and extra room really made these a find.

  • The WIDEST Shoe On The Planet
    By Glenn B. on 12 August 2017

This shoe is the widest shoe (dress, athletic, etc.) available on the market today... period! This 5E wide shoe is wider than any 6E wide New Balance, Drew, Vionic, Mt. Emey, or other orthodontic shoe ( I have wasted my money on all of them). I have incredibly wide feet and have worn this shoe almost exclusively for the past 30 years. As I grew older and my feet spread out even wider I found that by not threading the shoe string through the bottom set of holes and loosely tying up the strings I was able to gain a little bit more width. Over the last 5 years I have increased the shoe size from 10 1/2 to 11 1/2 to gain even more width. I have also included arch supports from Good Feet. I can't afford custom made shoes so this shoe will be with me for the rest of my life. I wear white ones for casual wear and black ones for dress. Needless to say I have a lot of extra storage space in the shoe section of my closet. My only negative comment is that the leather uppers are incredibly thin and scuffs/tears easily. The outer material of the tongue is more of a rubberized coating than real leather so it also scuffs and tears easily. I have yet to wear out the sole of this shoe as the widest part of my wide foot usually blows out the stitching along the uppers. The result is that I go through this shoe rather quickly but at approximately $70 per pair it is a far cheaper compromise than paying for custom shoes.

  • Uncomfortably Rubbing A Specific Area
By Jeffrey C Drywater on 28 October 2017

This was my second pair of these shoes which I buy because neuropathy makes it uncomfortable to wear shoes for long periods. The first pair was great but the second have been rubbing my "pinky" toe raw. I have tried some silicon toe covers and those certainly helped but it still gets bad after a day of walking around in these. I have now purchased a shoe stretcher with add-ons for pushing out specific areas and hope that I'll be able to use one of those to push the area out that's rubbing my toes. It's rough inside, like maybe several seams come together right there. Why I had no problems with the first pair and so many with the second pair is beyond me.
