  • Good belt - long but easy to trim
By J. Mark Lane on 18 November 2015

I agree with reviews that point out that this belt is way longer, as shipped, than the "sizing" would indicate. I ordered a 40-42, thinking that might be roughly the length of the belt itself and I could deal with it (I wear a size 32 waist). The belt that I received measured 51 inches. No problem, I also agree that it's easy enough to trim down the length. I recommend cutting the belt to the length you want plus may 1/4 inch; you will get fraying; then use a soldering torch (or gas stovetop, or something), and slowly, evenly melt the frayed end; you will get sort of a globbed up melted end; then take an X-Acto knife or razor, and trim the glob carefully, slowly, to a straight even cut; then run it very lightly over the flame again just to firm up the clean cut. See pics.

Also, I don't think there's any question about this being a genuine Propper belt. It has the label, including on the buckle, and is heavy-duty nylon. Good belt for the price and I didn't mind trimming it. The only downside is, you lose the nice angled, hardened end that comes on it, but that's not a deal breaker for me.

  • Not authentic!
    By Damien S. on 13 June 2016

I purchased this item in both khaki and black. As some other reviews have questioned the authenticity of the belts I was skeptical to order, but figured that the price was cheap enough that even if they were fake rather than just leftover old stock they'd still work as casual belts.

The nylon is ok. Doesn't seem as durable as my 5.11 belts or propper belts I've seen in the past. The buckle is definitely short of measuring up. The plastic feels cheap and easily flexes when squeezing with my bare hands. Real tactical belts that are supposed to be of decent quality wouldn't do this. Also, the buckle is lacking the propper insignia. As for the belt itself, the stitching appears sloppy compared to authentic belts and the manufacturer label is noticeably crooked..
If this is a real propper belt then quality control has taken a serious decline.. I'm almost positive that both the black and khaki belts I received are counterfeit.

  • Great Budget Tactical Belt
By OE on 29 June 2015

So far so good with this belt, to be honest I've never heard of or used a PROPPER belt so I have NO CLUE if it's authentic or counterift. The belt is suited for on or off duty use, the PROPPER Nylon Duty Belt is designed to provide utility in any environment. The molded belt buckle allows for easy adjustments yet holds tight when loaded down. Heavy duty 1.5 inch wide nylon can withstand constant and long term use.

I got a 32-34 waist belt and I am 33 waist and it fits perfectly on my pants or summer shorts. Belt is sturdy but there are definitely sturdier belts (that cost more). I use it to hold my holster for my PPQ or GLOCK 23 and it works great and keeps it up on my belt with ease. I also strap my knife and pepper spray to the belt.

    - Imported
    - Heavy duty nylon webbing

    - Could be sturdier

    - Belt is Stiff - Hard to Tighten

  • Poor quality, thinner and low grade.
By AsWangs on 13 July 2019

Update: well in all honesty if this is how proper makes belts now than it is garbage. I will keep it as I need a belt. But this is pure junk and super poorly made so they can make more money off the people.
Which is sad because everything is manufactured in china anyway and it barely costs them a dime. I'm done with propper products. Going back to truspec.

    Prior review.
In all photos my original propper belt is on top.
The new belt is way thinner, the buckle seems cheaper and also thinner.
Do I feel this is genuine? Possibly

I do like the fact the new buckle is matte instead of glossy.
But time will tell if this is reliable.
My original belt I have had for about 6-7 years and last month the buckle broke.
I will try and attach a photo of how the buckle broke. It's still wearable but not reliable.

  • A Good Belt but...
By Sidious on 23 November 2016

Propper Tactical Duty Belt - Coyote Brown
I like this belt. I'd love it if the buckle didn't permit unwanted slippage while adjusting. I have had it about three months. I had previously purchased the Spec-Ops brand and wanted to compare. The Spec-Ops buckle is better; their belt is slightly thicker and holds better. I have four Spec-Ops in different colors and two widths; this is likely the only Propper I will purchase.

Pros. It looks good. The heat sealing and angled cut on the end make it very easy to thread through belt loops. It keeps my pants up without making my waistline uncomfortable. It is thinner than the Spec-Ops and the rear-center belt loops are already creating a permanent wrinkle in that spot on the belt. I bought a little large and did not trim it; the end wraps past my side belt loop - much longer than would be permitted if still in the Army - but I like it at this length.

Cons. It is thinner than Spec-Ops. This combined with the buckle design seems to permit unwanted slippage when adjusting as previously stated. With Spec-Ops I hold the end of the buckle out to maintain pressure - no slippage. Trying the same with this belt/buckle - it slips.
