  • DO NOT BUY!!! Got stuck on the vehicle after 3-months; had to drill and cut it off.
By Renaissance Man on 15 May 2017

    Worst Hitch Lock EVER.
This lock works by inserting a driver pin from the lock side into the core of the passive side which pushes 1 ball bearings out and locking the lock side in place. While the concept may be good in practice it is useless anywhere where rust can occur, which is everywhere on Earth.
After only 3 months the ball bearings rusted and froze not allowing the lock to be disassembled. This led to the eventual need to drill and cut the lock off; something that shouldn't be needed.
While I have gone through a number of hitch locks over the years, changing them due to appearance rust has never inhibited the functioning of the other locks I've used. I switch back to a Trimax lock, which while rusting in appearance it never lost its functionality.

I purchased this in December of 2016 and removed and lubricated the lock mechanism about every four months to avoid it getting stuck on my trailer hitch. Well I went to remove it last week and it would not come off. After spraying it with PB Blaster and hitting it a few times with a 1lb hammer it broke free. As you can see from the attached picture this device did not hold up to Maryland weather. I would avoid buying this unless you live in warm dry climate. I contacted Reese to see about a warranty replacement and they have not responded. With the lack of customer support I would avoid purchasing this or any other Reese product. One other note about the Reese warranty, they want you to pay for sipping both ways, that is if they ever respond to your warranty request.

  • 5 Stars - Total Awesomeness!
By Sharon Kerby on 30 December 2015

I purchased the "Reese Towpower 7030300 Professional 5/8" Chrome DogBone Style Receiver Lock" for my wife to hold her new "Oakland Raiders Hitch Cover," that I got her for Christmas. Wow, the hitch-pin-lock fit our Dodge Durango nice and snug and ever so perfectly! The hitch-pin lock is made of super-high-quality steel and it looks really great too! We love the unique "square-key-lock and keys" and the fact that it came with two keys, too! We absolutely recommend this product to any and all wishing to secure something to the hitch of your automobile/SUV! Well done goes to to Seller for such an awesome product! Thank you goes to our very Trustworthy Amazon.com for an awesome product at an unbeaten price-point!

  • Better than most locking pins, more stout.
By ALFRED J EMMI on 02 September 2018

Great hitch lock. Can't be snapped off with pipe like other wimpy locks. Recommend squirting oil or WD in there if keeping on hitch, to keep from getting stuck, or just take off hitch when not using. Over time, road gunk will build up and possibly make it difficult to get off. Be prepared, keep it lubed

  • Don't buy it
By Chris Ratliff on 17 July 2017

Bought it and placed it on my receiver hitch November 2016, I used the rubber cap to seal up the lock to protect it and it did just that, the key worked fine. The problem is the locking balls are dissimilar metal and they caused corrosion inside the lock itself. It failed within 4 months
