  • waterproof bootie that was comfortable enough to walk around in all day
By Kelly on 13 April 2018

FINALLY! This is the 5th pair of booties I've ordered for an upcoming trip to NYC, and I'm actually keeping them. I had a very specific checklist of what I needed/wanted, and was willing to put in some extra $ to find the right all-in-one bootie.

    1) I wanted a bootie. (Booties go with everything)
    2) I wanted a waterproof bootie. (It's more than likely going to rain while I'm there, and I don't want to pack extra shoes)
    3) I wanted an ankle-height waterproof bootie. (It's Spring, not winter - I don't want calf-height boots - which, btw are NOT booties. Product descriptions can be so inaccurate.)
    4) I wanted an ankle-height, waterproof bootie that was comfortable enough to walk around in all day. (I don't want to wuss out on my plans bc my feet hurt)
    5) I wanted an ankle-height, waterproof bootie that was comfortable enough to walk around in all day that also look nice. (I want performance, but I also want to look cute)

I tried Bogs, Teva, Born & Merrell and none of them worked for me because they didn't meet one or more of the criteria above. (I was willing to compromise, but when you're spending $150+ on one pair of shoes... I wanted exactly what I wanted)

These boots are a smidge on the loose side. I normally wear a size 9 & my foot is a tad wide, but not wide enough for a Wide width shoe. I may have been able to get away with an 8.5, but I couldn't get the 8.5 in Gray. (and I really wanted Gray) Due to the width of my wide-ish foot, I've had trouble finding booties to fit the width, but also do not flop up and down on my heel at the same time. There was a little movement when I tried them on with both thin and thick socks, so I added a memory foam insole to them and VIOLA. Perfection.

Aside from the fit, these are damn good-looking booties. The gray ombre's into a darker charcoal at the toe and heel, which gives them a weathered look (which I like). The buckle is purely ornamental, which is perfectly fine with me. They're more refined than a motorcycle boot, which allows for wardrobe versatility.

If you're on the fence about these, I'd go ahead and grab them!

I'll update this review after my trip with how they faired. (If I remember - life is hectic)

  • Perfection achieved
By House of Ydell on 22 June 2019

I've been looking for a pair of ankle boots (calf high is not great) for the summer for about three months & was getting frustrated. The two boots I wanted were never available in my size, so I finally had to admit defeat & look for others. So, I went through about 80 pages of boots & found 6 that worked. 5 of them sucked. The top was too tight, the inside that too flat, etc. But these are perfect. So comfy (even when walking about a mile & then standing for about 45 minutes, then wandering around on hills & dales... well, hills. Looking for rocks.). I wore them during 9 hours of airport travel/airplane fun. I've worn them during errands. I've worn them to go dump green waste for my mum. Basically, I'm saying, I didn't post this review after wearing them for two days. I broke them in hardcore mode. They are still perfect. Great arch support, cushy inside, good soles, heel is a perfect size & seems shock absorby (jumped from a landing about 5 feet up & they took the impact pretty well), the top flares which makes tucking in a pair of pants easy, the zipper isn't a cheap one that looks like it's gonna break in a few months, & they are hard to scuff but easy to buff off if you do. Wish my Keen calf high boots had all that. Would have saved me a tonne in zipper repairs.

If you want to know what I'm wearing in the photo, it's size 10 (just 10, no letters after it) & the pants are AE NE(X)T LEVEL JEGGING, in always black, style 1938 in long. They tuck in the boots better. I know I always wonder what people are wearing to get a look in photos if I like the look & it drives me nuts because I'll never know........ so maybe it's just me like that, but in case it's not, there ya go.

  • Ordering another pair
    By K. Garber on 21 August 2016

The best advice in all of these reviews is size down. I am a 7 and chose a wide because I recently had extensive bunion revision on my left foot and there is still a bit of swelling. I am going to order a 6.5 and a 7 medium for comparison because the 6.5 C/D is really wide and very long on my foot even with socks. The brown is kind of boring, but I have a thousand pairs of black boots. The arch support is excellent, the zipper moves easily and the heel height is just right because I cannot wear high heels for another 6 months. You can easily tuck skinny jeans into these and the boot is stylish enough. I am not going to wear old lady shoes, but the comfort level in these along with a modern look does not require I sacrifice looking good! I highly recommend taking ALL of the packaging material before you try the boot on - it fits so much better!

  • Attractive bootie, runs slightly large
By PublicName on 02 March 2018

My favorite boots this year. I'm typically a size 7 in open sandals and pumps, and 7.5 in athletic shoes and boots. My feet are on the wide side of average with a narrow heel. In these, I got a 7B and it's a perfect fit. Love the style of the boot and that they are waterproof. I tested them out in light snow and they held up well. The grey color is fabulous, the perfect neutral. The only ding is that the leather upper scuffs easily. I bumped my toe against something and it immediately scuffed up. Not a deal breaker for me though - well worn boots scuff up sooner or later, and I look at it as part of the charm.

  • Very comfortable
    By A. Cole on 13 June 2016

These shoes are incredibly comfortable and they only took me two days of wearing them around the house to break them in. However, if you're going to wear thick socks, I recommend getting the wide width or going up a size.
I wore these shoes on average for 4 to 12 hours every other day for about 3 weeks, and they were easy on the feet and quickly became my favourite pair of shoes because they went with everything. They're not so pleasant on cobble stones, but for every other terrain, they were perfect.

Edit: it’s now February 2019 and I’m still in love with these boots. I take them on almost every trip. They’re still comfortable and great with socks or stockings/tights. My only complaint is that I need to air them out properly when I wear them for longer than a few hours. One of my biggest regrets is not wearing disposable liners with them on that first 3 week trip. The bottom of the heels are starting to wear down a bit but considering how much I’ve walked in these boots, I feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth and will happily purchase a second pair when these finally give up the fight.
