By TheMyth on 03 April 2017

I own two other pairs of Spenco Sandals and love them. I have plantar fasciitis and these shoes are great. My podiatrist recommended this brand and he was spot on. One of the prior pairs, after approximately two 18 months of use, did have the front support come loose from the base. However, a local shoe repair store fixed it for $7 and the shoe has lived on for another year. I recommend this shoe for the comfort and the value. The size was as expected.

  • Fake, do not buy!
    By Tim O on 30 July 2019

They are selling a fake product. These are not real spenco sandals. See photos, The ones on the left are my current spenco sandals I have owned for 3 years. The ones on the right are the garbage I was just sent. Immediately upon picking them up you can feel the difference in the cheap Styrofoam material of the fake ones, to the real ones made of a heavier duty rubber. Do not buy these!

  • Take Care Of Your Feet -- Unless You Want To Get Around By Wheel Chair.
By Scott E. High on 30 November 2017

I have been wearing Spenco Yumi sandals since my second left ankle osteotomy about six years ago. These sandals givie me the proper arch support to take the stress out of my peroneal tendons, which are now cadaver tendons. It was hard enough to recover from this second surgery on that ankle ( we didn't know if I would be able to walk normally again) that I don't want to repeat the whole sawing, cutting, pinning and screwing it all back together -- followed by very intense and painful rehab.

If you are having ankle or foot problems, see your podiatrist and determine what orthotic you need to stay away from surgery. You'll be glad that you did and you will greatly appreciate my warning.

  • Spenco vs. Sole
By Algernon Moncrieff on 10 September 2013

I bought these Spenco flip flops at the same time that I also received a pair of Sole flip flops as a gift. My podiatrist told me that if I want to wear flip flops, I need to spend the money to buy quality ones that have good arch support. (Any other foot health source will tell you the same thing.) Both of these flips are approved by the American Podiatric Medical Association and have great arch support. Also both mold themselves to your foot and are very comfortable. The big difference is that the Spenco gives you more of a barefoot, close-to-the-earth feel, while the Sole has a lot more cushion to it. I'm lucky to have both but the Sole does have more of a "foot pamper" feel while the Spenco feels more "athletic." The other difference I found is that the band that goes between the toes in the Spenco is a standard one, and I found it to take a lot getting used to, while the band in the Sole is sewn together to be more rounded and not rubbing against the insides of my toes (on my pair at least--online Amazon photos show the Sole bands to be the same type as the Spenco). I solved this problem on the Spenco by simply sewing the bands so as to make each one more like a pipe, which made a big difference in terms of foot comfort. The Sole costs about $20 more, according to Amazon prices. If you are concerned about price, you can't go wrong with the Spenco flip flops. If you want a more "bouncy" feel and don't mind spending the extra money, the Soles are a great sandal.

  • The sandal is comfortable the first time I wore it
By WCKJR on 11 June 2018

If you have plantar fasciitis, you need an arch support in a sandal. This is the one sandal that has helped me avoid reoccurring plantar fasciitis because of the built-in arch support. The sandal is comfortable the first time I wore it, conforms to my foot (so don't let others wear them), fits like a glove, and is well made and from good material so that it holds together well. I've been buying this sandal for several years and have walked a far as 10 miles in one day in it with no problems or issues. I highly recommend.
