  • Decent shoes in Extra Wide sizes
    By FeistyMom181 on 06 April 2016

These are adequate shoes for my 10 year old Autistic son who needs Extra Wide shoes. To be quite honest there isn't too many styles available for a 5.5XW in boys so it is rather frustrating. They are neutral and pair with anything. My only complaint is how quickly they wear out for the price but that seems to be the trend with him. These lasted 2 months before the toe stitching was tearing away from the top of the shoe. However, it is what it is. I can buy $10 shoes elsewhere and have him tear them up in a week or buy $40 shoes and have them last two months. I just wish that some of these shoe manufacturers could make a shoe that could stand up to an Autistic kid with a heavy walk. Of course, then they would make less money if they lasted. Which explains why the quality of so many things have gone down in the past 20 years. But for the average kid, I imagine these could hold up for at least 5 or 6 months, and that is the only reason why I'm giving them 4 out of 5 stars, as oppose to 3 out of 5.

  • Great shoes !
By shanta on 12 May 2016

Great shoes. Perfect for schools that require uniforms. I have one tough kid that rips through shoes like crazy. I always buy stride rites because it takes him twice as long to tear apart compared to other brands. I especially like these shoes because of the leather uppers, I was able to take to a shoe repair twice to have them fixed. This allowed me to make it through the rest of the school year without having to purchase any new shoes.

1 month later. I am updating my review. My son wore these maybe half a dozen times over the last month and the front completely came apart. I am shocked because i have been a stride rite fan for several years and have never seen this happen. I am a few days past the return deadline but I am still hoping I can return this product.

  • Great, supportive (extra wide!) shoes for tennis lessons
    By M.O.B. on 07 October 2015

We love these shoes and get them in different sizes for my son's tennis classes. They have good arch support, look nice and hold up relatively well (although he exclusively uses them for the court so not sure how they would be on a daily use basis). I would have preferred the velcro but this option was so much cheaper that it was hard to resist! Also, hard to find extra wide shoes for my son so Stride Rite is a favorite for our family.

  • Great quality shoe
    By A. B. on 16 September 2017

Great quality shoe. Well made. The only negative is that the laces seem a little short. This is the second pair we've purchased (for school uniforms) and we end up replacing the laces with longer ones once these fray (with typical child wear).

  • Poor quality, shoes are falling apart.
By Stacia Osborn on 27 September 2018

Unfortunately, after eight weeks of school-only wear, these are literally falling apart. The toe “cap” has detached and it, and the two pieces that meet beneath it, are flapping free. My little boy has cartoon hobo shoes now. I hope the company offers to replace them for us as I expected better from a previously reliable brand.
