  • I was pretty sure I ordered a size 10 but a 10
By jake on 09 October 2017

Reveiw from a current paramedic and former swcc boat RM. I was pretty sure I ordered a size 10 but a 10.5 came I'm glad it did because the 10.5 fits like a glove. I even rubbed my toe on the insole ( because they're comp toe and I couldn't feel my toe) to leave a mark pulled them out and it was perfect distance from the end. They seem a bit narrow and stiff but I'm betting they break in nicely. Very light weight and my foot goes in and out easily when laced up tight and unzipped. I've had issues with that from other sidezip boots. The finger loops on the back are perfect for helping to get my foot in and The rubber on The back gives you grip to get them off. The side zip seems to get hung on the water barrier material that's there and takes me pushing the material back with one finger and zipping with the other hand. The zipper locker is sketchy and I feel like the zipper may work it's way down during the day but we will see.
The inside seems well insulated for you guys farther north that's good but here gulf shores alabama that means a foot sauna and Thats no bueno. it dosent get cold here much so if theyre hot i wont be wearing the but 3 months out of the year. I will update after a few shifts on the progress. I'm giving 3 stars because of the wrong size sent which actually worked out and the zipper issue. Ok so 3 shifts into it they were wearing good and the zipper on the side entry broke. I'm sending them back.

  • Sizing issues, but high quality.
By Thomas A. Anderson on 28 March 2019

I have an older version of this shoe and even then, back when I ordered it, I had to get wide instead of a medium (I am normally a medium). However, this shoe, even a wide was not wide enough. Also, the toe cap pressed against my toe, enough that I'm sure it would have developed into a bigger problem. I didn't want to take the risk, so I returned it and decided to get the non-toe cap version. It takes a fair bit of work to find a size that fits properly, something that Timberland really needs to address, but once you do, that's where all the complaints end. This is a very high-quality boot. They finally added the loop on the back to help you pull it on (not that that is a representation of a high-quality boot, but it sure is nice), which wasn't present on earlier versions. Reviews say there are issues with the zipper, but my 4-year old version of this boot has the same zipper, and it has never failed me...knock on wood. The Timberland name is sureey represented by the comfort and quality of this boot.

  • When your feet hurt, your work suffers
By Bilgemonkeyracing on 28 June 2016

"When your feet hurt, your work suffers". Buying these boots has made that statement more true than ever, for me.

Great arch support, comfy tongue, stretchy laces, that seem to stay tied quite well.

Keep in mind, because the side zip panel doesn't open up fully, you will have to loosen the laces to put the boots on, so they aren't a zip-and-go solution like some paratrooper style boots. Having the side zip panel makes them more comfortable, so for me it's no longer an issue.

They do tend to run a bit narrow, so if you have wider feet, you'll want to order half a size up, or your toes will be squished into the composite toe area.

Some boots feel too "big" for motorcycle foot controls, as did my last pair of side zips. The right side toe slips under the shift lever with no repositioning of the foot, and braking with the left is still as good as any riding boot I've used.

The soles are a bit tall in the heel, but that height is there for your comfort, for sure. A 9 hour day on my feet and I wasn't hating life as I have in the past.

Very happy with these, let's hope Tia the Newfoundland doesn't eat them up like my last pair of Timberlands.

Update! 4 months later and the toe leather is worn through. Rating adjusted to match overall quality

  • Beware of defective zippers and stiff heel insoles
    By matthew m. on 23 July 2019

My pair of Timberland Pro 8 inch black leather boots came in the middle of May, now in mid July, only two months later that I write this review.
After moderate use of the boots at work, where I do a lot of walking, the heel cushion inside both boots still have not been broken in causing my feet to form to the shoe as opposed to the shoe forming to my feet.
The zippers are difficult to maneuver at the area of the ankle that flexes. This requires me to Flex my ankle while applying constant pressure to the zipper so that it can fully zip, both up and down.
Finally, as I attempt to finesse the zipper at the ankle, the unavoidable stress the zipper endures when putting on and removing the boots caused the zipper to break completely on my left boot, rendering the pair useless

Considering These Boots cost $140, the zippers are hard to maneuver, the heel cushions are stiff and have not fully broken in after 2 months, and the zipper breaking, I feel this is a poor investment for your feet and I will be contacting the manufacturer for reimbursement. Such a disappointment

    the boots are useless.

  • Great lightweight boots in big sizes and good fit
By David Johnson on 15 January 2020

I havent worn them for work yet as i am on off rotation but have worn them to potter around the house and garden so i can get a feel of how they fit....so far i am really impressed , very light in weight but sturdy in design , warm abd comfortable, the side zip is excellent for ease with getting on and taking off the boots....so far I am happy with my purchase..the real test will be when i head back to work in 2 weeks ..but i think the boots will handle really well.
