  • Works in the rain
By Skoozan on 28 September 2015

This coat is great! I took it with me on a 2 week vacation to Ireland and Amsterdam and it held up great in the rain. I can say firsthand I walked through heavy rain for 20 minutes and it kept me dry. It's light for days that aren't cold but still rainy, and loose enough that you can wear layers underneath if it is chilly. I was also able to crumple it up into a pillow on the plane without ruining it's structure. My only struggle was keeping the hood up in the wind, but that's hard to avoid without ugly drawstrings. Would recommend!

  • My new favorite jacket
By Todd J. Toops on 10 September 2015

This jacket is soooo flattering. If you are on the fence, take the jump!

    Basics about the coat:
It arrived folded nicely in a plastic bag. The jacket seems well sewn, didn't find missing stitching or buttons. The buttons, in fact, are a stand-out: VERY shiny dark silver (almost like polished pewter) rimmed around matte black. Quite modern. You can't see how pretty they are in the photos. The pleats in the back are centered and the belt is nice and long.

    Regarding sizing:
I am about 125-130 lbs, 5'4" tall, somewhat long-waisted with broad shoulders, muscular arms, smallish midriff and substantial hips and rear... I usually wear a Women's size 6 or Junior size 9 (skinny jeans)...this jacket in the Medium size fits perfectly. Other reviewers indicate that the sizing is "somewhat small": this jacket fits exactly like many of the Junior sized jackets and higher-end clothing that I've bought in the past, so if you keep that in mind it should help you to determine the correct size (i.e., shoulders and upper arms are fitted like Junior coat, waist fits like a Junior waist).

My style-minded girls think this is the nicest jacket I own, so it's definitely a keeper.

    5+ stars!!!

  • Best coat for our 4+day rainy vacation!
By gg on 20 March 2016

Shortly after purchasing, we flew to Napa for a long weekend. Never would have predicted rain everyday, all day while there, but this coat was perfect coat to keep me dry while there! Only down fall is there is no way to tighten hood over head so I had to hold onto rim to keep wind from blowing it off. I received lots of compliments on the coat while there tho. It was cute, lightweight, easy to pack, looked good with everything & kept me dry.

Best of all... this coat fits me! I'm 5'9" with long arms & slightly broader shoulders. Typically, arm length is a huge issue for me. It might be a tad shorter in length & belt slightly higher in waist than ideal, but overall, excellent in comparison to 99% of coats I try! Price was excellent, too. Definitely feel I got my money's worth in this one trip alone!

4 stars only because an option to tighten hood in some way was noticeably missing on this trip.

  • Good Quality, but be aware of sizing issues
By Tammy on 24 August 2016

Gals, this is one of the better made trench coats Amazon carries, however, know your size. And, if you can afford to, buy 2 different sizes at the same time and return the one that does not fit. My experience is that if you first order and you get a beautiful one, if you return it for a larger size, that one may not be in the same good condition as the first. Never has the second one, this company or another been better or as good as the first, when it comes to clothes.

This item does not come in a Petite, so be prepared to alter the arms. I was prepared for that when I ordered the first one in Peat Green (a great color, BTW), but as typical of non USA made clothing, it was too small across the back & pulled under the arms, even with a small T-shirt. No way could it be worn with a light weight sweater in Fall or Spring. For fear of the experience mentioned above, I held onto the Small thinking that maybe if I lost 10 pounds it would be OK. I was so happy and impressed with everything else about it, but... a seamstress who I was going to have hem the arms for me said 10 pounds would not matter and suggested I exchange for a Medium. Amazon agreed to it, but not only did it cost me an extra $21 dollars due to a price hike, but the Medium is roomy, lets say. It's like foreign manufacturers think all American women are large breasted. The arms are wider and approximately 8 inches too long for my 5'1" height. The length seems to be longer than the Small, about 3 inches longer than pictured above, coming to an inch above the knee. I so much wanted a nice light short trench coat I have yet to decide if I will keep it but, thought it worth sharing my experience so others will be wary or warned. To me it is the quality craftmanship, fabric and style that earn the 4 stars, but the sizing issues really need to be addressed. My opinion is: if you are going to make clothes for American women, use THEIR size charts.

  • Cute, Comfortable Trench Coat
By AMK on 29 September 2016

I ordered this coat in navy blue after searching for a cute, feminine but not frilly above the knee trench coat. After reading other reviews, I decided to size up to a medium from my normal small. I'm glad I did. The medium fits perfectly. For reference, I'm 5'5" tall, 135 lbs, 34C/D, athletic/pear shape, usually a size 4, sometimes a 6 in button down shirts. The size medium allows for room to wear over a long sleeve shirt and cardigan sweater or other light to medium weight layers. I think the shoulders would be a bit snug over a heavy sweater or blazer, but there's plenty of room through the waist and hips. This will be a perfect weight coat for fall and spring in Chicago, and the hood is good for blustery, rainy days, although its not adjustable so it may not stay up in gusty winds. Another reviewer stated her navy coat arrived unlined, however the one I received is nicely lined, and appears well-made. In the photos, I'm wearing it before steaming. Because it was shipped folded in a plastic bag, it really needed to be steamed before wearing. The back pleats were kind of wonky due to the way it was folded in the packaging.
